genevieve had this sort of picturesque childhood. her mother, dorothy, was a newscaster for an international news station and her father, allan, was a filmmaker. while both of them were extremely busy, they still showered genevieve with lots of affection, as she was an only child.
as a girl, gen idolized her mom. she loved that her mom could travel anywhere, and thought her mom was so smart because she reported on so many things. from a young age, she had her heart set on journalism and reporting.
tw: parental death / disappearance. when genevieve was in middle school, her mom was travelling for work. she never came back. nobody knows to this day whether or not dorothy is alive. there were some signs that maybe things were not perfect at home, that being a wife and a mother were not what she expected. whether this was coincidental or to get away from her family, also a mystery.
after this, her father threw himself into work and a revolving door of women. just when genevieve thought she could get along with her dad’s new girlfriend, there was another one. eventually, she just learned to keep her distance and do her own thing. her and her dad grew further apart, and when he was home, just merely existed in the same space.
still, as gen continued onto high school, she aspired to be like her mother. not only did she work for the school newspaper, but she picked up an internship-type gig with a local news station, where she was able to occasionally live out her reporter dreams on a smaller scale.
after her mother disappeared, she became kind of a little bit mean? she tries to remember to be kind, but it doesn’t always work tbh
into high school and college, she kind of got a knack for partying. no one to really keep her in line so she just kind of did whatever.
shes now a junior at the university of miami for journalism!
