Thrilled to have performed on the soundtrack to the HBO documentary film “Alternate Endings: Six New Ways To Die In America.”, a heartfelt and revealing look at alternative ways the end of life is commemorated in our time, including burial in a memorial coral reef (thereby creating a new habitat for ocean life), living wakes, green burials, and medical aid in dying—leaving on one’s own terms during a terminal illness. A 60 second demo of me playing the 1969 William Dowd double manual harpsichord in my studio at Hunter College. This model is based on a 1782 instrument by Shudi and Broadwood that resides in the Victoria & Albert Museum. That instrument was the largest harpsichord ever made in England. Here, I’m demonstrating the back 8’ stop, followed by the front 8’ with the buff stop applied. The excerpt is the opening of J.S. Just renewed my passport for the 4th time in my life. Above are my first 4 passport photos. Some are definitely not like the others. Once, when I was traveling with a passport that contained the photo you see in the upper right corner, I was detained in Bilbao, Spain for about an hour, as I had shaved off my mustache since the passport photo had been taken. Just released: the recording of my composition "Powerhouse Passacaglia", with me on piano and two fierce members of my band SWARMIUS (Todd Rewoldt on saxes and Daniel Pate on drums), produced and engineered by studio wizard and fellow Swarmian @jozefius. "Powerhouse Passacaglia" is a fantasy/hommage on Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse", which was used frequently in Warner Brothers cartoons in scenes featuring assembly lines or machinery. It has a nasty, sinister 8-note bass line that I've loved since I was a kid, and which propels the piece.
