After the books gathering dust for a few months I have picked back up on reading Hellblazer. Starting Vol. 13, Vol.14 is on the way and I already got 15 and 19 from my local half price books, just missing a few more <3 Someone needs to stop me from buying books, I also recently grabbed the first two Fire Force omnibuses? omnibusses? omnibi? idk and the first omnibus of TenSura : ]
I've had Vol.14 for two hours and I'm about half way through. At this rate I'm going to finish 14 and 15 like tomorrow well before my next pay day (Thursday) when i can buy Vol.16 T^T
....So I have uuh finished reading Vol. 15, and despite my better judgement I have spent $150 on Vol. 16 and 17..... as far as im aware this run ends at Vol. 26 so that means I'll have 18/26 books in the collection by the end of the month yay (waiting for it to ship is going to kill me T.T) should I have waited for payday? Maybe, but if the best deal on Ebay (I checked half price books and barnes and noble first) sold to someone else, well the other offers were asking for much higher :( which is crazy because Vol. 26 was relased in 2022 why is this omnibus run already out of print?
At least I have 3 manga Vol.s to read to hold me over (probably should have read them and waited to buy the comics on pay day but hey I'm not hurting for money so its fiiiiiiinnnnneeee)
Okay this is getting insane the cheapest i have found of Vol 20 IS $280 for a book that is 6 years old, someone is selling it on amazon for $500 fucking dollars like WHAT this isnt like first eddition signed copys of a single comic from 1950 THIS IS A 6 YEAR OLD BOOK MAN
congratulations to the first real person ive blocked on here in almost two years! 🥳🪅🎉

Imagine saying "yeah the guy who did half of Skyrim's concept art? deserved to get laid off. Yeah, the lady who's been with Bethesda since before Morrowind and designed all the beast races? Yeah she deserves to get laid off"
Apologies for going off on this person, but it needed to be done.
Bethesda literally has a plaque in the heart of their main studio which celebrates and commemorates Adam Adamowicz.
Ray Lederer is incredibly sweet person and an immensely talented artist. He's told me how Adam was one of a kind as an artist "broke the mold" when he was born.
Ray and Adam were artists, coworkers, and best friends.
Using Adam's death (or anyone's for that matter) to bash and spit on those they loved is disgusting and anyone doing that is worthy of every contempt.
My one haterade comment I'm willing to voice is I'll never forgive Legend of Korra for turning all the avatar-verse spirits into Wacky Zany Quirked-Up LOLROFL Funnyguys.
Ko the Face Stealer did not walk just to have every LOK-onward era avatar spirit be the functional equivalent of "Woah-HO who let THIS GUY into the party!!!!!!!!"
i think more people need to realize that the circumstances of how jason todd died would make him deeply untrusting of not only other people, not only himself and his own instincts, but specifically other people's proclamations of what they feel about/for him and how he reacts to that in turn
#Jason wants Bruce to prove himself (Shelia) wrong so bad.#Actions speak louder than words.#Hey does anyone remember how before aditf when Jason maybe maybe not killed a guy and their dad went after him for revenge.#And Bruce kinda insinuated that the fact that it ended with three more people dead was Jason's fault when he told him that it was#ONLY NATURAL for a father to do that for his son??? bcs I do#<- prev#yeoch ouch ueahg#ive never thought abt this but no you're so right#he trusted when his parent told him they loved him&that it was safe now#only for them to pull a gun on him and get him murdered#obviously he could never take bruce at just his word (especially w the ''not avenged'' and ''replaced'' on top of that)#and then bruce fails the test jason set up for him to prove his love/care so it's like. damn they're just fucked aren't they!#the love was there but it didn't change anything#<- AAA dghdjghd going insane sry

Dungeon crawling game set in a domain where the law of the land states that all hoards, troves, sacred relics, cursed rings, talking swords, and other unclaimed treasures are the property of the Crown, with the retrieving party being entitled only to a modest finder's fee, and also it uses XP-for-gold advancement specifically pinned to the percentage of retrieved articles' value the character in question is able to legally claim; much of play thus consists of fabricating legitimate-seeming provenances for retrieved treasures in order to obscure the fact that they were pried out of a dungeon and thereby defraud the King.
(No, this is not "yet another tax fraud premise". Circumventing state ownership of unclaimed hoards is a different thing – more forgery and less math, for one!)
Danny: *minding his buisness in the mall, and sipping on a cup of ectoplasm*
M'ari, walks up to him curiously: What are you drinking?
Danny, taken off gaurd by the random child: Uhh...
Mar'i: Because it kinda looks like Uncle Jason's blood. Are you a vampire?
Danny: Yes.
Mar'i: Oh. Did you get permission to drink that blood? If not that means you're a bad guy.
Danny: I got permission, only weird fruitloops don't get permission.
Mar'i, nods seriously: That's good, cause then I'd have had to beat you up. And I like your star hoodie, and I wouldn't want to accidentally ruin it.
Danny: You a hero then?
Mar'i: No, Daddy and Mommy are heros though, and that means I'll be a hero one day too.
Danny: Got your whole life figured out huh kid?
Mar'i: *proudly nods*
Danny: So where are-
Mar'i: Is your skin sparkly because you're a vampire?
Danny: Sparkly?
Mar'i: Yeah! It looks like snow when its in the morning and its all glittery.
Danny, snorts: No thats because I have use ice powers.
Mar'i: Really?!
Danny: *crouches down and puts his drink down. He holds out his palm, and it starts glowing blue before a glittering blue ice sculpture in the shape if a star materializes in his hand, followed by small ice droplets that turned it into a necklace.*
Mar'i: Pretty!
Danny: Tell ya what, you tell me how to contact your parents to come get you, and you can have it.
Mar'i: I know Daddy's phone number!
Danny: That'll work.
*one phone call with a panicked father later*
Dick: Mar'i!
Mar'ii: Hi Daddy! Look the Mall Vampire made me a necklace! Hey will it melt?
Danny: Not unless I will it to kid.
Dick: You scared the stars out of me Princess! I turned around and you were just gone! You can't do that!
Mar'i: But I was bored, and you walk away from Uncle Tim when you're bored.
Dick: Ah well thats different-
Danny: *snorts but tries to cover it by taking a sip of his drink*
Dick: Thank you for holding her attention long enough to contact me.
Mar'i: The Mall Vampire is cool! He knows more about the stars and planets than Mommy does.
Dick: Mall Vampire?
Danny: *smiles at him, showing off his sharper canines*
Dick, pales: Right! Well Granpa is waiting for us Mar'i! Thanks for the help sir, goodbye.
Mar'i: By Mr. Mall Vampire. *waves excitedly over Dick's back*
Danny: *lazily waves back*
Bonus
???: Sorry I'm late I was- why do you have that look on your face?
Danny: What look?
???: The look that means "I know something others don't know and its going to be hilarious".
Danny: Its nothing bad, just had an interesting conversation with a really eccentric kid is all. It was funny, in hindsight.
???: Uhuh, sure. *squints suspiciously at him*
Danny: Anyway, forget about that, let's get the supplies I need before we go to dinner.
*3 Hours Later*
Tim: Why is Mar'i running around talking about a Mall Vampire?
Kori: Dick lost her in the mall earlier today, and the person who found her was humoring her questions.
Tim: And Dick is freaking out because...?
Kori, huffing: The man was "extremely pale with glittery skin and dark hair" and he just happened to have sharp teeth, so Dick's freaking out about it.
Tim: Seriously?
Kori, fondly: Honestly, that man.
Barbra: Hey guys, sorry for arrivaving late, it took a while to find the right paint-
Mar'i, squeals: Mall Vampire!
Danny: Hey kid.
Barbra: What?
Danny: This is the eccentric kid I told you about.
Barbra: Oh. Well uh, this is Danny, the cousin I told you abour. He's only in Gotham for a few months for a few art shows hes particpating in, so he's going to be staying with me.
Dick, paling: What?
Danny: Sorry for any inconvenience I might cause, but I look forward to getting to know you all. *smiles 'innocently', showing off his sharp teeth once more*
Speaking of medieval history, it's fun how the popular accounts are all "the peasantry disliked nobles, but typically loved the King and attributed any harmful decisions to bad advisors", and then the rare examples of surviving testimony from actual peasants are like "I hope the King literally explodes".
"Gotham loves Bruce Wayne" but specifically it's street cart vendors loitering the streets, sometimes at night.
Yeah, Batman is cool. Well, he pays and tips in crumpled bills that usually have some blood or soot on it, is polite to the grandpas, agrees to dropping by their houses to make sure their kids aren't staying up too late or their spouses came home safe.
But nothing beats seeing the Prince of Gotham stumbling out of work, ordering 20 bagels for his gluttonous children and tipping 150% more than the original costs. They ceased thanking him for the programs their family benefits from, knowing he much appreciates seeing photos instead or having extra onions in his shawarma wrap.
Some of them would be acutely aware of the parties that Brucie Wayne goes to because there's at least an 80% chance of him stumbling out drunk and every old man street cart vendor starts mother henning him.
"Mister Wayne, you shouldn't be drinking on an empty stomach! 😨"
"Sit up, boy 😠 Good god, you look like a bloody mess."
"Aww, poor kid 🥺" (Bruce is 45 yo man btw) "Here lad. Ice cream. On the house. Yes, yes, tell me all about the last model that dumped you, but please do it while sitting upright."
There have been 17 different occasions in this year alone where Alfred rounds the car around the gala just to see Bruce on the sidewalk, deliriously tipsy, while a circle of cart vendors are gentle parenting him into eating oily foods to get rid of the alcohol.
Love love love this so bad. You mind if I add a bit?
Thinking about the kids coming across these vendors and getting spooked when they recognise them and call out their names. Initially they assumed it was because they're the child of Bruce Wayne but then the vendors made the food just how they like it–less onion or extra sauce–and treats them with the hospitality of a regular customer.
They learn it's because Bruce frequents these vendors when drunk and rambles on about his babies, showing pictures and making sure the vendors know their particular preferences when making the food.
"Treat that old man of yours a bit nicer, won't ya?" They'd say, handing their orders. "Lord knows the poor lad tries his best."
"It's on the house, just give the boy my regards," the sweet lady would include when packing up their food. "Now you be good and careful on your way home."
Even when Bruce starts drinking less or quit, he still stops by those carts after attending galas like it's tradition. He'd spend a good while just talking to the vendors, talking about his day or the recent thing one of his children did that made him proud, buy something and gives a ridiculous amount of tip before going on his way. Or he'd stay there and talk until Alfred arrives.
Bonus:
One of the sweet shawarma lady nearly got mugged on her way home when Batman intervened. After checking out she's alright he offers to walk her the rest of the way home.
"Up for something warm, sweetheart?" She says, unlocking her front door with keys as the Dark Knight stood guard behind her. "There's even some more for the kids at home."
Batman visibly freezes, and the sweet lady laughs.
"Did you really think i wouldn't recognise you, young man? I'm not that old. Now come, it won't take long."
The kids are confused when Bruce comes out of patrol with a bag filled with warm, fresh shawarmas, but they're not complaining.
