It was ambulatory wheelchair user day yesterday 🥰🎉 Being an ambulatory wheelchair user means that the person needs a wheelchair but can walk/stand in some capacity too! Did you know that 1/3 of wheelchair uses are ambulatory wheelchair users? Which is why if you see someone stand up from their chair or walk to it, you should mind your business and get on with your day 🥰 Ever since needing a wheelchair I’ve made a point to take photos and videos both in my chair and stood next to it. Not only does this help to normalise this image but it also helps other wheelchair users, and plus size people, know what clothes look like sat down and stood up. Celebrating 10 years!😱 Today is my official blog / content creating anniversary and I cannot believe it’s been 10 years! When I first started out I was a super sad teen who didn’t know what direction to go in life and stumbled into this incredible online world that took me in. From the start so many of you have supported me and cheered me on and it truly means the world. There have been so many highlights over the years and I’ve done things I never even dreamed of, from modelling and presenting to winning awards, organsing and speaking at events and so many more things. By far the best thing is the people I’ve met along the way, kind people are the reason I started and the reason I’ve kept going all these years! The love you’ve shown for me and my family makes me feel truly blessed. I feel so lucky to have found a career where I can involve my loved ones so much. Happy International Wheelchair Day 🥰♿️ Today is a great day to take a look at your feed and count how many disabled people do you follow? According to @scopecharity there are 14.6 million disabled people in the UK. I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve learnt from following other disabled people. How much I’ve learnt about my own condition, pain, how to advocate for healthcare, accessibility, and about other conditions and disabilities too. I’ve learnt so much about how people with the same conditions can be so different, how we all have different needs and there’s always more to learn! Here I’m with my NHS transit chair, it’s different to my electric chair and I use it on days where my condition fluctuates and I’d be more comfortable in it. This is why you’ll see disabled people some days use walking sticks, and others use walkers or wheelchairs. 🥰Disabled joy photo dump🥰 Earlier this week we had a little adventure day out and I managed to do and see all the things I wanted thanks to my wheelchair 😍 We headed to @knowsleysafari safari park which is a 5 mile Safari drive and then there’s a foot Safari too with plenty to see and do, including rides for kids!
