I'm not sure why I have such fond memories of this series, I haven't read an issue since the late 80's or early 90's. But, I'm a sucker for it. Once I finish up Remender's Cap run from a couple years ago I think I'll dive into the Elementals.
Elementals Vol. 1 #1, January 1984
Publisher: Comico
Penciler & Writer: Bill Willingham
Inkers: Bill Anderson, Keith Wilson, Jeff Dee, Rich Rankin, Sam De La Rosa
Letterer: Keith Wilson
Finally reading Brubaker's Cap run and enjoying it immensely. Except... I can't stand Steve Epting's Red Skull. The rest of the art is fine, but the Skull is just, well, not good. Captain America Vol. 5 #38, July 2008 - Ed Brubaker, writer - Steve Epting, penciler - Mike Perkins & Steve Epting, inkers - Frank D'Armata, colorist
Thanos explains his motivations. (And appears to have the face of a bull on his chest.) I wish they had more of this explanation in the Infinity War movie as it would have furthered the motive of that Thanos, but what can you do.
The Surfer plays a large part in the build up to The Infinity Gauntlet. Starting around Vol. 3 #34 running to #38, then the (important) Thanos Quest mini-series which show how Thanos gathered the soul/infinity gems. From there Surfer Vol. 3 #40 - 50 continue the road to Infinity Gauntlet. This set has been a fun read so far. Better than the earlier Thanos stuff.

Marvel house ad for the Moon Knight Special Edition Limited Series (1983) that reprinted in color the classic stories by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz that had previously only been printed in Marvel’s black and white magazines.

Bill's da-bomb.
S'up Thanos?
Oh, nuthin'. Chillin' with the skrulls, as you do.
Thanos is big here, but not quite his beefy stature we see now. Nor the color, he's a bit on the gray side here.
Captain Marvel Vol. 1 #26, May 1973
Script: Mike Friedrich
Plot & Art: Jim Starlin
Inks: Dave Cockrum
After seeing Avengers: Infinity War I decided to dig into Thanos' past, starting with his first appearance. Not much to him at this point, just a broad overview of his origin as told by Drax the Destroyer. I'm curious to see where he turns into the big-baddie that he's known as today.
The Invincible Iron Man #55, Feb. 1973

Scripter: Mike Frdiedrich
