Big brain time
There’s a theory that says humanity is actually one big prison population and earth is the prison we live on. That’s the reason we’re so fucked up. It makes sense in a way.
“Bütün yüreğimle diliyorum kuş koysunlar ülkemin yoluna hepsi beyaz olsun, barış adına umuda uçsun biz de diyelim ki bir ihtimal daha var bu dünyada vahşet ve kandan başka.”
— Nilgün Marmara (via zetije)
I am inevitable…
A few years ago a roommate abruptly decided to move out to live with her boyfriend, and I ended up spending half a year sharing an apartment with someone I had never met before: an Egyptian girl with very limited English.
She was confused by my appearance and asked me “boy or girl?” It took me a while to understand what she was saying, but eventually she got the point across, and I told her that I was a girl. She seemed unsatisfied, and I explained that I was transgender. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t know the word.
We ended communicating by typing our respective sentences into Google Translate. Unfortunately, whatever the Arabic word for “transgender” is, it wasn’t a word she knew either. Eventually I ended up typing in “I used to be a boy but it made me unhappy so I decided to be a girl.” She stared at it for a moment then asked “You are happy now?” I said yes, and she smiled and looked thoughtful.
A couple hours later she came up to me and said “You and me, we are sisters,” and gave me a hug. “You say you are girl, you are girl.”
Can I share this in non-tumblr spaces?
Each story like this warms my heart a little more
Spectacular death. Spectacular star. Your crushed heart remains bright from afar. You’re looking at a composite image of the Crab Nebula, located 6,500 light-years away. The white dot in the center — an extremely dense ball of neutrons just 12 miles across but with the same mass as our Sun — is all that remains from a star that exploded in 1054 A.D. Had the blast occurred 50 light-years away, its intense radiation would have wiped out most life forms on Earth. Spectacular death. Spectacular star. We’re grateful we can admire you from afar.
and then god was like let’s not give this bitch a break

Misogyny at its finest
i just saw a fb post where a man was arguing with a woman about the best way to make macarons and he kept insisting that she was wrong, and then eventually he was like “I’ve never personally made macarons, but if you think about it what I’m saying makes sense, i’m simply stating the obvious. i’m sure there are plenty of youtube tutorials that would show you the same thing.” and the woman replied by linking him to her instagram business page and she makes fuckin macaron towers for parties for a living and i’ve been laughing about it for a solid 5 minutes.
Men automatically assume they’re more of an expert on something than any woman on account of their dicks. I’ve never met such an ignorant and narcissistic creature as a male
I’ll never forget a time when a fb friend of mine posted that she’s on her way to hospital to give birth. Women commented with “good luck” and other encouraging messages. A man’s comment was advice on how to give birth.
You have got to be kidding me
So I was talking about Jekyll & Hyde (the book) at a writer’s museum while we were looking at an Robert Louis Stevenson exhibit. I was giving my take on Jekyll, and my brother tried to counter it. I countered back easily, and then he said “well I’ve never read the book”
My dude………..stop
my ex, whose baking experience was pretty much limited to frying premade biscuit dough in boy scouts to make ‘donuts’, would constantly try to correct me or give me advice on baking
i’m a fucking pastry chef
met a dude at a party who was talking about physics and asked if i’d ever listened to any online physics lectures bc he listened to all of this one series and they were so helpful and maybe i could learn some physics too
i have a degree in physics
and am a published coauthor in astrophysics
the best part is that the woman who invented the term ‘mansplaining’ (her name is Rebecca Solnit and i highly recommend her collection of essays) came up with it when she was at a party one night and a man tried to explain a book to her, and wouldn’t let her speak long enough for her to tell him that
she wrote the bloody book he was mansplaining to her
You know I have plenty examples of this but that last one takes the cake so imma just let it be.
listen I don’t “like” things, I either read a book/watch a show and forget 0.2 secs later or change my entire lifestyle based on what it was until I find something new
If you think I’m just going to ignore my years-long dislike for Taylor Swift then you are absolutely fucking RIGHT, because this isn’t about me liking her personality or her music this is about how the industry - in this case the music industry - continously fucks over their female artists.
This is about emotional and psychological abuse that a woman has had to endure since she was a young girl, who absolutely didn’t know better than to trust men who would then procede to shit on that trust and act according only to their own shitty interests.
I am sick and tired of strong and talented women being mistreated over and over and to have people belittle their (understandable) outrage and pain at having their hard work misused or even worse, taken away from them.
Right now it’s Taylor Swift, but it’s not just her. It’s Kesha, and Carly Rae Jepsen, and probably so many more artists we don’t know about. So yes, I will damn well stand by Taylor Swift and everyone should do it too.
People have always been disgusting to child stars, but the one thing i hate about social media is how much easier it makes it for people to be gross to literal children. Mia Talerico, the then FIVE YEAR OLD star of Good Luck, Charlie got death threats for the show having a lesbian couple in one episode. Lexi Rabe, the SEVEN YEAR OLD actress of Morgan Stark is getting bullied online because she didn’t want to give an autograph to some asshole who accosted her while she was just doing errands with her parents. Grace VanderWaal was ELEVEN when people began posting obscene comments about her. Millie Bobby Brown is THIRTEEN and has had creepers counting down to her eighteenth birthday since she was TWELVE. Emma Watson went through the same from the time she was ELEVEN. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams went through internet hell about their weight and their looks at the ages of FIFTEEN and FOURTEEN respectively. Boys can’t escape this either, because Finn Wolfhard has also been subjected to the countdown clock since he was FOURTEEN.
FUCK THIS. Y’ALL NASTY.
this is the cutest thing ever
