Okay, I noticed a parallel in Og StF fans' complaints and Royal Magic haters' complaints.
OG StF "fans" then: When it comes to Sofia's old main dress.
"Sofia has a closet as big as her castle, yet she wears the same purple gown every episode?"
"Sofia's main dress is so boring!"
"Sofia never changes her dress!"
Hate posts regarding these comments. (No hate to the creators of these posts, of course.)
Positive posts that doesn't discriminate about Sofia's wardrobe, people still comment these exact things when they don't really need to. To a point that gets annoying.
When fans do acknowledge Sofia's gown and outfit changes.
"She's finally wearing a different gown for once!"
"Since when did Sofia wore different clothes?"
(After Elena and the Secret of Avalor special)
"When did Sofia's main dress change?"
Posts when fans acknowledge Sofia's outfits.
I know fans noticed these gowns and outfit changes. I know they comment about her gown and closet just for laughs. Although some of these fans are dead serious about her simple outfit changes. Like, what do they expect?
Have you seen other cartoon shows? Most characters have to wear the same outfit every episode because of the animation budget. It's called their MAIN OUTFIT for a reason. It's the characters' signature look.
Later on, in season 4, after Sofia's amulet turned pink, her main gown transformed into a brighter purple dress.
Therefore, Sofia did change "her boring purple gown," at some point during the show.
OG StF "fans" now: When it comes to Sofia's new main gown in Royal Magic.
"Why did they change her og dress?"
"Why does her dress look like that?"
"What happened to her OG gown?"
They were complaining about Sofia's signature gown being "boring." Now, they are complaining about Sofia's new signature gown being "different."
They kept her same signature gown details and look. It's a different shade of purple and only a few inches shorter. Are we for real?
Tim Gunn (Baileywick's vc) explained in a video that Sofia's new gown in season 4 had more flexibility, so Sofia will be able to move around easily on her adventures!
It makes sense for Sofia's Royal Magic gown to be a few inches shorter so she can move around more freely. Also, her new school doesn't really require princesses to wear exaggerating long gowns. Formal and traditional, yes, they are Royals, after all. But this school isn't Royal Prep, where they need to twirl or have tea parties. It's a school where they learn magic.
I saw Sofia's Royal Magic concept designs, and I am upset they didn't keep any of those concepts style for her redesign. Nevertheless, I am happy they didn't do a drastic change on Sofia's design. It was a great choice for now. I do hope we see her dress in outfits like her concept designs at some point.
Also, when Sofia does decides "to wear something in her huge closet," and she chooses a cute sparkly tulle dress. Let her wear it, don't hate it. She's a child, and she deserves to dress like one for goodness sake!
I just needed to defend my girl. It's her show, after all, so let her wear what she wants!
That's all I have to rant about today.
