Hello and welcome! I'm girlfromverona and this is my Simblr. I currently play Sims 3 and 4, but I've been a Simmer since the beginning of time. My Origin ID is gfv74. Some of my older CC can be found at Mod the Sims. All of my CC is made using TSR Workshop and/or Sims 4 Studio. I'm currently on hiatus from creating. Not sure if/when I'll be back.
If you're a creator publishing free CC*, you can submit your work to be featured in the new Community tab of my Refreshed Main Menu mod!
It isn't anything overly complex: it displays the CC, some info about it, and a link. But it highlights free community content for PC/Mac players. The content updates automatically, so it changes frequently and new CC can show up often.
*If you release content in Early Access, you're still more than welcome to submit any of your work that is already publicly available!

Seeing all the posts about EA and the future of The Sims, people saying they’re uninstalling, deleting their blogs, that life is over… I just want to say this as someone who's made rash decisions in the middle of big emotions:
STOP!
Breathe.
Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. Close your eyes and repeat a few times. Block out the online noise for a second. Focus on yourself. Feel what's happening in your own body. Let it loosen.
Right now you're upset, worried, angry, grieving. Of course you want to do something, maybe escape, maybe burn it all down. But two days from now, when the dust starts to settle, you'll be staring at a new problem: "Oh no, what have I done?!" Don't add to your pain by acting in panic.
We don't have all the facts yet. There's speculation, misinformation, and a lot of fearmongering. There's also truth. But before taking any action, take a step back. Let your emotions cool. Then come back and read, think, and make a decision.
Yes, things will change. Yes, it's uncomfortable, and there will be losses. But if you delete your blog today, you're also deleting your community. All the people who think like you, who share your space.
If you're anxious and your emotions are boiling over, log out. Close the computer. Lock the apps that escalate those emotions. Don't wind yourself up further. Trust me on this.
In a few weeks, the situation will be clearer. That's just how it always goes. This community is made of so many different people. People who support each other without hesitation, who share tutorials, workarounds, and advice about everything under the sun. There will be guides. There will be fixes. There will be people to lean on. Together, solutions are always found.
So yes, feel the frustration, the sadness, the anger. Then breathe. Step back for a second. Don't torch your bridges in the heat of panic. The game may change, the company may disappoint, but the community remains here, unless we destroy it ourselves.
PS! This is just my opinion. If you don't agree, don't agree.
REMOVE YOUR MODS FOLDER WHEN YOUR GAME UPDATES. DO NOT PUT IT BACK IN UNTIL YOU KNOW THE MODS YOU USE ARE CLEAR AND/OR HAVE BEEN UPDATED.
This is NOT difficult and you WILL survive in a unmodded save for a short while.
If you have issues in your game, TAKE OUT YOUR MODS. ALL OF THEM. DO NOT LEAVE ANY IN THE GAME. If you can reproduce the issue, post on the bug forums. Several people wasted a lot of helpers time on the forums the other day for what was a mod issue. So please take them ALL out and reproduce the issue before posting on the bug forum.
YOU are responsible for what is in your mods folder. Not the modders. Not the helpers on the EA forums. Not even EA.
I figured, since everyone uses a UI mod or two, it'd be nice to do a compilation of their respective glitches (if or when they happen) and hopefully makes it easier for you to identify which mods need updating :9 but before that, some context about them! (disclaimer: all info based on my own experience w/ making UI recolors.)

They usually edit one of these two UI files, or both:
GFX files: often edited to add/modify the functionality of a UI.
Examples: More Traits in CAS, Searchable menus/UIs, UI Cheats Extension, TOOL, etc.
Texture (DDS) files: often edited to change the texture of a UI.
Examples: CC wrench icons, main menu/loading screen override, and world map replacements.
Both: UI recolors often edit both files above as text colors are handled by GFX files and the textures are edited separately. Some main menu and loading screen overrides also edit both if there's a new functionality added to them.

For example, the main Calendar UI comes with one GFX file (calendar.gfx) and one Texture file (instance # 999522802c8b1c5c). Meanwhile, the Edit Holiday & Plan Event UIs have their own set of GFX & Texture files. This can be further confirmed by checking the GFX file and see which external image it's referencing to in the file.
because of this, it makes it easy to pinpoint which UI mod is causing a glitch, hence the creation of this guide :p

Whenever there's a new game update, the GFX and texture set are updated together if a new functionality is added to a UI. With that in mind, when you have a UI mod from the previous patch laying around, you now have one half outdated/modded UI file (i.e. GFX) and one half up-to-date/unmodded UI file (i.e. UI texture) loaded up by the game (or vice versa), and that discrepancy in version is how you get the UI visual glitch!
Here's an example of a UI known to break (guicomponentlibrary.gfx):
There are instances where only the GFX file gets updated and not the textures, causing little to no visual bugs, or in another case, having 2 outdated UI mods from the same set (i.e. custom wrench icon & more traits in cas mod).
So even if there seems to be no visual bugs, some UIs may still not function as it's supposed to (mainly after big game updates). Always a good idea to check all of your UI mods.

New Survey Asks Players About Free Updates to The Sims 4
The Sims team just shared a new survey on their official Discord channel asking players about future free game updates to The Sims 4.
The questionaire is available in five different languages.

The questions are mostly about representation in the game, asking players for their feedback and suggestions they may have to improve how The Sims 4 can reflect players’ lives.

Hey everyone it seems there a malicious individual trying to hack the sims cc community again and fill it with malware you need to stay vigilant as a creator and a downloader so
i have some tips for both to stay safe while downloading:
1- sims cc file extension is always .Package never download anything that is .exe
2- do not auto unpack zip files and rar files into your mods folder directly, open each zip or rar individually check the file extensions and drag them to your mods folder one by one
3- the only mods that have a .ts4script extension are ones that affect gameplay or how the game works, understand that if you are downloading cas or bb items you shouldn't have a .ts4script file
4- if you are downloading gameplay mods that do have .ts4script make sure that A) the creator hasn't announced on their pages that its infected B) you are downloading from a link provided by the creator of the mods themselves not something off of google or a link you got sent and make sure dates of upload match dated of announcements
5- if the mod or cc creator has retired and hasn't posted for a while LOOK AT THE DATES OF THE UPLOAD if it has been "updated recently" after the creator has left the community its most likely re-uploaded by a hacker and infected
6- download mod gaurd by Twisted mexi and keep it updated and keep your windows defender or malware detector Program up to date and always running do not disable it
7- make sure everything you download comes from a direct link from the cc creator, in this day and age do not trust link shortners, adfly, linkverse, etc get the universal bypass extension and ublock extension to stay safe but genuinely NEVER CLICK ON THOSE no matter how much the creator reassures you its safe it. is. NOT.
8- this is more of a general saftey precaution but, create a system restore point weekly before you run the game with new mods that way if anything happens you could have a chance to restore your windows to an earlier date before you downloaded anything.
9- BACK UP YOUR SHIT im serious right now either weekly or monthly put your files somewhere safe like a usb a storage card a hard drive even an online cloud if you dont have any of the previous.
10- files you should back up are your media from games and media everything else, any mods, games saves, work files, passwords, saved bookmarks, any documents txt files word files pdfs, links you saved, brushes or actions for Photoshop if you have any, any digital bills or certificates if you have any, and keep a physical list of all programs you have installed and where you installed them from
11- turn on any 2 factor authentication and security measures for any account you have
12- google and firefox have the option to check your paswords and emails against any data leaks USE THIS FEATURE and change any leaked passwords
13- regularly check your logged in sessions to make sure all the logged in devices or computers are yours and log out any that aren't and any old devices or unused sessions do this for every website and app you have an account on if available
14- change your passwords often. I know this is a hassle i know its hard to come up with new passwords but changing your passwords every few months will help you against anything mention previously that wasn't detected.
15- and as a cc creator check your cc and the accounts you host cc on and its uplaod and update dates make sure nothing has been changed without your permission :(
16- generally try not to get swept up in the "i must get it" fever you do not need to "shop" for mods weekly or monthly you do not need to download everything by that one creator you do not need to download new cc everytime you want to make a sim, im guilty of this so i know how hard it is to resist but take a breath and think "do i want this or do i need it" before downloading.
These are prevention methods i cant claim they are 100% will prevent any hacking but its better to be safe than sorry and these do keep you safe so

additionally, that is how to check if the file on sfs is safe.
each file on sfs can be replaced with another file while keeping the same link. creators do that when they update their cc.
look at the second date. if it's the same as uploaded date, it's the original file that was never replaced and is 100% safe to download:
if it has a later update date, but it's still a *.package, it's safe to download, the creator just fixed and updated it at some point.
if it has a very recent update date (last couple days) compared to upload date, AND it's a zip, better not risk it! ZIP archive can be made into a self-extracting archive that may damage your computer. if you want this cc badly, check creator's page for any info that they actually updated their stuff, or just ask them.

Sorry it's been so long, but I do come bearing gifts. Well, one anyway: I have overhauled my old Lighted Wall Signs. I've added a ton of recolours and updated a couple of the old ones. There are 40 swatches altogether. Please delete the old files or you'll end up with duplicates. Unfortunately this does mean you will need to place the signs again if you've been using the old ones.
You can find these signs in the Outdoor Lights and Wall Decoration categories for §135. The Get to Work expansion pack is required for the mesh. Thanks to all the creators of the Simlish fonts I used. Here's a list of some of them.
As always, please let me know if you spot any problems. I'm working on some more CC, so hopefully I'll get that finished up soon!
