Isnāt Alina the OGM a Tatar? Strange how these ethnic minorities in Russia donāt look so different from Slavs at all lol. Can you post pictures of something comparing? Because Tatars and Slavs just so similar! Maybe it is different for people who actually live in Russia.
Yes, she is! And she doesnāt look very Slavic ā I can easily tell most of her ancestors belong to another ethnicity, Tatar in her case. While Alyona Kostornaya and Alexandra Trusova look pretty much Slavic. I must say ethnic minorities in Russia look very different from Slavs unless theyāre mixed, and statistically quite a lot of them are mixed. Itās hard to meet anybody completely ethnicallyĀ āpureā, including Slavs themselves. E.g., it is natural for Tatars to be dark-haired and dark-eyed, but you can easily meet blond blue-eyed Tatars exactly because of mixed marriages and so on. But quite often they still identify as Tatars ;) But in general Slavic ppl are more Nordid-looking while Tatars look more Turkic.Ā
Letās compare some faces in ART!
Shishkin,Ā āA Village Girlā. Iād say thatās a very typical Slavic face. You can meet someone like this ANYWHERE in Russia. But usually the hair would be a few shades darker.

Traditional clothing of Tatar peasant girlsĀ of the early 20th century. From the book āTatar Costume: From the Collection of the Tatarstan Republicās State Museumā by M. Zavyalova.
I mentioned earlier Kishimoto using body language used in Japanese theatre, so I gathered some pictures to show what I mean.
I have to mention Narutoās master Jiraiya, whose design, antics and speech are all based on Kabuki. Jiraiyaās rough, broad and bombastic way of speech and body language is a style used in kabuki for masculine, heroic characters. These type of characters take a lot of space and use flamboyant and exaggerated, even aggressive body language.
I have seen a claim that Naruto is the āopposite of traditionally masculineā because heās flamboyant while Sasuke is traditionally masculine. Sorry but thatās not what Kishimoto was going for:
He draws Naruto in a similar manner to Jiraiya whenever he wants to bring āKabukiā into Narutoās character. Notice the crude facial expressions, the face paint and the same, reoccuring hand move.
Jiraiya and Narutoās sage mode āmakeupā is also a nod to the exaggerated face paint used by these hero characters in Kabuki plays. Which is why it makes perfect sense Naruto is wearing the intimidating āhero makeupā when arriving as a hero to save everyone.
So what about Sasuke? Sasukeās look is more soft, fluid and not exaggerated (including facial expressions). I donāt bother with too many individual pictures so that this doesnāt become too long but Kishimoto spends time portraying Sasuke as poised and graceful in comparison to Narutoās brash and exaggerated appearance.
Here as well you can see Narutoās body language being the same type of brash and exaggerated, taking a lot of space, while Sasuke is calm and beautiful and expressionless. . Sasuke is the yin to Narutoās yang.
But nowhere is Kishimotoās intention more evident than in this illustration he drew in 2018.Ā Here they are complete opposites. Sasukeās stance is graceful and closed, his back is straighter and his shoulders are down. Narutoās is more assertive and open (arrogant). Sasuke is delicate looking, feminine (has some makeup), his build is slightly smaller than Narutoās (look at the wrists). Sasuke uses the back of his hand to hold back the sleeve, unlike Naruto. Sasukeās face is smaller and more slender than Narutoās while Narutoās features are squarer and not polished. Even the patterns and colors of the kimonos follow. Sasukeās blue and white symbolise calmness and passivity, Narutoās colors and patterns symbolise aggression and war (notice the lighting and thunder clouds). The sheer attention to detail!
I donāt think this illustration is much talked in western spaces (?) but in jpn fandom this was definitely noticed and there was some talk about Sasukeās āfeminine auraā when this was released, and that Kishimoto always draws him so beautiful. The contrast between the two of them is interesting, and in my honest opinion ignoring Sasukeās traditional beauty and grace, as well as Narutoās brashness, is missing a part of their characters and their relationship.
I know your heart and you know mine. ā Sasuke UchihaĀ
