If you aren’t totally quaking in your boots at the news of millions of bees dead, yet again, you’re nuts.
this should be concerning a lot more people than it is
not only because bees are one of the most important animals in the world and their job is a lot more than gathering honey but also because they are what scientists refer to as an “indicator species”
this means that when their populations start dwindling and then rapidly dropping, humans need to watch their shit because that means that environmental factors are too difficult for THEM to live in, so it might be difficult for US to live in, too. bees basically act as an indication that humans have a lot to worry about and when they start dying like this it deserves a lot more than a few headlines.
last year my biggest worry was the steep decline in bee population and apparently thats not about to change anytime soon. people have told me to my face that they think its strange I’m so concerned for the bees. read this you selfish fucks
Get excited, motherfuckers. Without bees, we will die off. Bayer and Monsanto continue to produce the chemicals that have been proven to kill them, and the government has their backs. Bees pollinate 30% of our food in the US and we are passing legislation to PROTECT the scumbags responsible for killing them.
I preach this shit to everyone who will listen and I always get “WAAAAH I HATE BEES THEY STING AND THEY ARE BIG MEANIES!” but think about your future life without kiwis, cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, peaches, sunflowers, cotton, apples, plums, pears, mustard, celery, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, beans, cherries, melons, turnips, canola oil, alfalfa, soybeans, lemons, oranges, and I could go on forever.
Bees are amazing creatures who are responsible for the comfortable lives we lead in this country and we cannot sustain and feed our population without them.
Alright you guys, there’s a good amount of notes on this but it’s only making us aware of the problem, not telling us what we can do to help. We can do something to help and YOU CAN HELP, YES THAT MEANS YOU. ALL YOU NEED IS DIRT, A FEW BUCKS, AND A MOMENT OF YOUR TIME TO MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE, LITERALLY.
Plant flowers that bees like and that attract them.
Bees prefer flowers that are blue, purple, and yellow. Choose flowers that bloom successively over the spring, summer, and fall seasons such as coreopsis, Russian sage, or germander. They especially love clover! Other plants include sage, salvia, oregano, lavender, ironweed, yarrow, yellow hyssop, alfalfa, honeywort, dragonhead, echinacea, bee balm, buttercup, goldenrod and English thyme. Buy seeds online.
GET RID OF THE PESTICIDES!!
If pesticides are killing off the bees so easily, what do you think it’s doing to us? The EPA says studies have shown pesticides can cause birth defects, nerve damage, and cancer. There are other ways to get rid of pests in the garden than using chemicals. Organic Garden Pests shows you how to keep off the bugs the organic way.
Give the bees a free home!
Giving bees a “bee block” alone is a huge load off their backs! You can buy homes here or You can even build your own.
Please, if you have already reblogged this, reblog this is again with what I have posted onto it so you know what you can do to help. We can make a difference.

Why isn’t this more of an issue?
Like why is our entire existence at stake and all anyone wants to talk about on the news is the “TWERKING PHENOMENON”.
this is so so important please everyone reblog this and help where you can!
Here’s some education for you guys, the disappearance of common bee isn’t such big of a treat. SURE it is for the companies that produce honey but that’s about it.
See. Our common honeybees doesn’t come from here, it comes from europe, they’re big pollinator and it’s due to their hive that people ‘domesticated’ them as their honey can be preserved for years.
MOST bees don’t have an hive and live on their own, making tiny tubular nest like this Orchid bee AKA jewel over here:
Pretty right ? Why don’t we see more of them in the nature all around us ? Pesticide would be a good factor to point your finger at right ? Sure it is a treat but a treat to ALL insects. Many pollinators are actually menaced by one common factor.
The HONEYBEE ! YEP YEP that’s right. That cute and fuzzy bee that we all love actually is quite a menace for them. See Honeybees are territorial and tend to cover as much area as possible. Not only do they cover kilometers of flower fields BUT on top of that they then to reduce the resource for other species making them less likely to reproduce.
Sure it’s important to take care of our environment, but the death of honeybees is not the end of everything. There’s other pollinator out there that can help out.

I have finally found a good reason to buy a car.
I win.
I got introspective one day and sketched out a 6 panel comic. It sat in a folder for a few days before I expanded it to 10. Then it sat for a week. After which, I moved on. The expiration date had passed, and the comic joined the rest of the half-drawn files in the very same folder.
I still don’t like it anymore, but I’ll take the victories where I can.
this.
There are a thousand more arts in the unfinished folders than what you see posted/published. We are not being lazy… even though we think we are.

Okay reblog if you’re an artist who STRONGLY PREFERS reblogs with commentary
People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.
Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.
This applies to art, fic, dumb theories, whatever! I totally love reading tags and commentary!
Definitely re-emphasizing that ALL reblogs, likes, etc are awesome! So don’t feel bad/feel obligated to add something if you don’t want to, but don’t hold back if you DO wanna add something because you’re worried it’s rude.
I’m really baffled at how apparently one half of Tumblr has decided that comments are rude, and the other half is wondering, “Why doesn’t anybody talk to me anymore?”
I am pro-comment.
I’ve been on this site long enough to remember when adding comments (or somehow interacting with) reblogs was really common? For what it’s worth, I (and most of the people I’ve ever talked to about this) devotedly read every comment and tag ramble. So, yeah, I have no idea where the rudeness thing came from but on a site that already makes communicating kinda weird and hard, never feel bad about adding something on a reblog/in tags.
Yes. Also tumblr has made it increasingly difficult and time consuming to go through reblogs to find stealthy tag comments. Better believe I still do it anyway, lol. And if you don’t want to add your comment on a reblog, you can use the “comment” feature, which I feel is seriously underutilized (possibly because it’s impossible to comment as a side blog but that’s a whole other can of worms, thanks tumblr) I try to leave little comments here and there. Feels more interactive, idk.
#teamcomment
#teamcomment here too! Feel free to ramble.
this is an insult
I once applied and interviewed at a bookstore cafe for a barista position. It was way closer to my home, and I had almost a decade of experience working in a coffee shop at that point.
Got to the interview, and it turned out they didn’t want a barista, they wanted someone to spearhead their new cafe, as the cafe that had been in the store before didn’t want to resign their lease with the bookshop. They wanted to put their own cafe in its place, all new menus etc. They needed someone experienced to train their new staff, to handle window displays, to communicate with the bookstore owners about changes and needs of the cafe, to be able to handle inventory and ordering.
Okay, I had basically done most of that stuff at my previous job. I asked if cafe positions would also be required/trained to work the bookstore. They would. They would be required to run the book sale counter, stock and reshelf books, and help bookshop customers find things. They would also–despite having an outside cleaning company–have to help maintain bathroom cleanliness. They’d have to take out trash, and clean spills, and vacuum. Wow, that’s a lot, I said. Is this a manager’s position, then?
No, I was told, it wasn’t, but there was a chance that after a training period it might become one. And that made me pause, because I’d been working as the front-of-house manager at my cafe, and I knew how much work that entailed, and what kind of money I was making, and it was only the commute that had me looking for a new job. So I asked what the job paid. $8. E I G H T D O L L A R S. Per hour. Barely above minimum. For all of that work. For someone they expected to get an entirely new cafe up and running, and then also do the work of the bookstore and the cleaning company as well. I thanked the woman for the interview, said I’d have to talk to my significant other about the impact a four dollar pay cut would have on our finances, and that I wasn’t sure it was the job for me. She asked me to sleep on it, and she’d call me the next day. This is a job I was way more than qualified for. I had years of experience doing exactly the things they wanted. It was a convenient location, close to my home–I could walk there if I absolutely had to. I did not go home and talk about that four dollar pay cut and what it would do to our finances. I knew as soon as she told me that not only was it not feasible for us, it was downright insulting. That little money? For a frankly ridiculous list of responsibilities and expectations? She called back the next day. I thanked her again, and told her in no uncertain terms that my time was worth way more than what they were offering. And whenever people bitch about Millennials being lazy, not spending money, not buying houses…whatever the complaint of the month is…I think about the very nice lady who conducted this interview, and how confused she was that I didn’t want the job.
The fact that the interviewer was confused speaks so loudly of the current state of affairs
There’s this little detail with Rose/Pink that I really like where she’ll glance up sometimes when emphasizing a word
