Bob Dylan gave a wide-ranging interview to The Wall Street Journal in which he also compared technology to "sorcery."
i wish someone could like, write a song about how things don’t always stay the same and old people need to sit down and make way for newer generations at one point
Reblogging for that comment 😆👍
If I didn’t remember actually reading this in an actual Calvin and Hobbes book as a child I’d think it was ironically photoshopped like those comics where Mickey Mouse and Goofy talk about how reality is an illusion but this comic strip was actually just……. already………… like that……………

Hey does anyone remember that little song about the mail from like… the early 90s or maybe the late 80s it went something like 🎶 “the mail must go through, the mail must go through, no matter if it’s rain or shine…” 🎶 idk if it was on Sesame Street or one of those “turn the page when you hear the chime” record books or what but that song’s been stuck in my head for a while lately

The number of older people who do not believe, EARNESTLY refuse to contemplate the concept that lots of people my age or younger don’t want kids ✨ever✨ is astronomical. I don’t understand the obsession.

Free play is critical for developing executive function, autonomy, and trauma resilience. A sustainable future will need to include ways to recenter children's need for free play.
This is immediately applicable to kids coping with the pandemic.

The Wiggles winning JJJs Hottest 100 gives similar to vibes to Jedi getting added to the Census - like it’s an Aussie humour thing, I think? And I love it.

When I say, “In the olden days” I could be talking about the 1990s, 1780s, or 2019. Context, kids, context.

Solarpunk recognizes that climate change, the consequences of centuries of damage, aren’t averted in the future. Yet it still manages to…

Excerpt:
“I don’t live in a place that can ever be verdant and green. In fact, it’s not healthy for the plains I live in to be nothing but greenery because where I live is not meant for it. The attempts to force a specific vision of aesthetically pleasing and healthy plant life has in fact had devastating effects on the land, stolen from Indigenous peoples and bent to the will of a growing settler-colonial capitalism, infrastructure flooding land to store water to be used on lawns, in defiance of the fact the environment is unsuitable for many of the introduced plants, with native grasses being displaced with or without human intervention, and invasive species chewing up everything around us. The healthy, sustainable lands around me are yellow grasses that crunch under your feet, that have roots so deep that they touch the water table, forests that turn brown in the fall and snow that reaches up to your knees. There is almost no version of Solarpunk that looks like that, little that seems to embrace the diversity of the natural world and understand that for much of humanity, the verdant vision presented cannot exist in reality without yet another form of ecocide” (Klapecki).
Have been hanging with a bunch of Gen Xers lately and OMG they genuinely are the most confident self-assured adults you’ll meet they don’t give a flying fck about societal expectations boomers attempt to impose and fashion variables are laughed at they seem to live by some motto of “do what you want so long as you’re not hurting anyone” and I am absolutely in love with every single one of them I’m in awe
Being 18-25 is like playing a video game where you’ve skipped the tutorial and you’re just sort of running about with no idea how anything works
Being 25-30 is like later on in the game when you’ve figured out how things work, but have made poor leveling decisions along the way and are now horribly underpowered for what you’re supposed to be doing.
Being 30-35 is coming to the conclusion that if wildly swinging a sword at random while screaming has gotten you this far, may as well keep at it.
Being 35–40 is looking back at 18–34 and realising the tute-skipping, bad-uplevelling, sword-swinging shit-carousel you built *ought* to have killed you, but it didn’t, and also your back hurts.
Capitalist social media concept of generations vs experienced reality
Or as the Midwest called it, the 90s.
