Hello, hello! This is the side blog where I'll be posting things related to my Five Nights at Freddy's AU. Ask the characters or mod questions or whatever suits you! (Background credit: Springhole.com; both header and icon are edits I did)
(B/C I couldn’t figure anything out for Day 6. Will report back if I change my mind)
Summery:
February 7th- Follow Me
Don’t follow him. On this day, create something around the phrase “Follow Me.”
I refuse to give context, since doing risks spoiling the main story, even though this particular drabble is decidedly not canon. I also can’t provide fully accurate tags, for that same reason. Enjoy your confusion and sinking feeling! <3
The janitor wasn’t sure what he expected to see back there, but… But he had to follow, he thought. Something was off with his friend, and… and he wanted to be sure he was okay.
Now, though, one blow from the event manager had pinned him to the wall, and the janitor could only look up in surprise at somebody he’d thought he knew. “D-D-Daniel…?!”
“Quiet.” There was an odd frantic edge to his voice, as if even he didn’t want to be back here. “Thomas, I told you not to follow me.”
“I-I, uh…” The thought was lost, though, upon catching a glimpse of a stain on the floor behind his attacker. “I-Is that-?”
“I didn’t want to do this.” Thrown like a ragdoll to the floor with a gasp of pain. “You made me do this.”
Before finding out what ‘this’’ was, the janitor scrambled to his feet. Run for the door. The police were already here. Please, please, I don’t want to die.
He failed to notice that he wasn’t being followed anymore.
Do you promise not to tell a soul? On this day, create something around secrets.
A quick little thing, less horror-based than some other things I could do for this prompt, but I felt like this was a good choice, and that other concepts could wait for later prompts.
(Big ol’ trigger warning for self-loathing and homophobia, especially the internalized kind)
No. This couldn’t be happening.
He’d thought maybe something like this was a… problem when he was in school, but he knew it couldn’t be the case. He was fine. Oh, sure, a bit awkward, shy, not the smartest or nicest kid, but he wasn’t-
He couldn’t even think of it. He knew what his family would think. It wasn't possible. He was fine. He couldn’t be-
Oh, especially over something this stupid. This wasn’t even somebody he knew in person, it was just some… recording!
And yet, that kind voice, showing his confidence and kindness, more than most people he’d known in person…
Get a hold of yourself, Jeremy! he’d scold himself, every time he felt his heart skip a beat at that voice, the… charming stutter and friendliness of the stranger training him. You don’t even know him. For all you know, he’s some asshole in person, he probably wouldn’t even like you!
Of course, those thoughts were dissolved-at least partially-when the night guard, in a fit of panic and confusion, placed a call to the number credited with leaving him those tips. That voice-the charming, caring man on the other end, who’d guided him through some much in so little time-spoke, spoke to him, and…
And was everything Jeremy had hoped.
It didn’t occur to him until several hours later, while praying for sleep to take him in his bed, just how… perfect the conversation had been. Oh, of course there was his seemingly-impending doom, but other than that little big detail, it was amazing. He… He wasn’t a jerk, he’d sounded so worried about the night guard, he just wanted to know Jeremy was safe…
Tears pricked at his eyes at the thought, and he rolled over, burying his face in the pillow. He… he couldn’t bear it. Was he… really broken? He couldn’t possibly be feeling this way, and yet…
He desperately wanted to meet this man from the messages. Know his name, his face.
The main area in the games. On this day, create something around office.
Hm, not much to say about this one! Showed a couple of characters that haven’t been seen much, introduced another one for the first time.
Oh, and foreshadowing! That’s fun.
@fnaffandomevents/Event info here!
"Thomas!" Fritz jumped up from his seat, grinning widely as his old co-worker made his way down the hall. Thomas seemed to move to go around the desk, bit Fritz forwent that, instead leaning over the desk to wrap Thomas in a hug.
The taller man started laughing, wrapping his arms around Fritz's shoulder as best he could. "H-hey, Fritz! I, uh, I d-didn't think you'd miss me that much."
"Heh, why wouldn't I?" Fritz straightened out, pushing himself off the desk and back to his feet. "You were a great guy!"
Thomas averted his eyes shyly, muttering, "Th-thanks, I just, uh... Not used to being so fussed over, i-is all."
"Well, no matter." Fritz grinned, grabbing Thomas's hand and shaking it quickly. "It's cool to see you back here, man. Even after, y'know..." Thomas flinched, looking away, and Fritz added, "Yeah, I heard you didn't get moved to the main project like I did, and when the accident happened..." He trailed off, a cold quiet filling the room.
Finally, Thomas spoke. "Yeah, it, uh... It was r-rough. But, uh, hey, a-at least we can start anew here?"
"Yeah, guess so..." At least Thomas wasn't there to see it, Fritz thought. I don't think he could handle something like that...
A grunt came from down the hall, and the two of them turned to face another man running towards them. Thomas grinned in response, waving excitedly. “R-Ross, c-come here!”
The other man-Ross-groaned as he reached the office, shooting a glare at Thomas. “Can’t believe you ditched me with that…”
Thomas blushed, scratching the back of his head shyly. “Heh, s-sorry. Uh, guess they felt the need to do a more… through interview for the security guard position.”
“You got one of the guard shifts?” Fritz asked. Realizing he hadn’t introduced himself, he nodded, extending a hand to shake. “Fritz Smith. I’m one of the mechanics for the animatronics.”
“Ross Weston.” Ross shook his hand stiffly, but Fritz noticed one corner of his mouth curl up. “Take it you already met Thomas here?”
“Uh, Fritz a-actually used to work at…” Thomas froze, trailing off awkwardly, remembering why the last place had been forced to close down. Oh, sure, it wasn’t meant to stay open for long, just long enough for this location to get funded, but it’d been forced to close early after…
Ross glanced at Thomas, seemingly getting what Thomas was trying to say. “Yeah, I get it.” Fritz opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to continue, but Ross sighed loudly, leaning back against the table. “Well, hopefully we can keep things straight here…”
Thomas noticed the hurt look on Fritz’s face, and desperately wanted to clarify. This wasn’t Fritz’s fault, Ross wasn’t mad at him, specifically, but…
Oh, but this was Ross’s life. He… He didn’t want to put this out in the open without Ross’s permission.
“Fritz! Thomas!”
All three men jumped at the sudden voice, but Fritz grinned, turning to see the source. “Hey, Rich!”
The taller man, who’d somehow slipped in without being noticed, smiled in response, taking Fritz’s hand for a brief shake. “Good to see you two again.” He glanced sideways, seeing Ross seemingly for the first time, and turned to offer his hand to the new guard. “Sorry. Richard Maddock.”
“Ross Weston.” Ross raised on eyebrow, shaking the other man’s hand only briefly. “Yeah, I think I heard the boss mention you guys while I was in there.”
“You guys?” Thomas asked, eyes betraying the confusion he was politely trying to hide. Similarly, Ross could’ve sworn he saw a glint of surprise on Richard’s face, but it passed as soon as it came.
“Oh, so Daniel really did take the job?” Richard shrugged a bit over-dramatically, saying, “I know he was planning to, but I didn’t know if he ended up going for it or not…”
“Well, Scotsman mentioned there being more than one of ya, so I guess he did.” Ross paused thoughtfully, but before he could voice whatever he was thinking, Richard stepped back, a small smile forcing its way onto his face.
“Well, I really should be going.” He sighed, all of a sudden seeming very tired.
“Oh, uh, a-alright.” Thomas smiled back in response, either oblivious to the oddness of the scenario or simply not caring. “I-it, uh, it’ll be nice to finally meet your brother!”
“Yes, right…” Richard looked away hesitantly, not really seeming to share Thomas’s opinion. “Well, he’s a bit of an… odd one, so I’d be careful with him if I were you.” He shook his head, turning back towards the hallway. “Well, it was nice to see you three.”
“Yeah, same to you!” Fritz waved after Richard, then turned back to the other two as soon as Richard was out of earshot, a look of concern on his face. “Uh, so, anybody know what that was?”
“I-I don’t know,” Thomas replied. Glancing over Fritz’s shoulder, he caught a glimpse of another man walking up the hall, only to pause when he ran into Richard. Thomas took a quick look at the stranger-was this Daniel? He’d heard quite a bit about Richard’s younger brother, but now that he took in the sight of the younger Maddock-sharing his brother’s dark hair and large, tall build; but without the almost-daunting confidence his brother possessed-Thomas had to admit, he hadn’t hadn’t expected Daniel to be so-
Oh, please, he scolded himself, be professional. He shook his head, turning away and hoping nobody could see his face redden upon realizing what he was thinking. Ross did, however, evident in the chuckle he hid behind one hand, before turning back to Fritz and saying, “Yeah, well, I’m taking bets on who’s gonna snap and kill us all first.”
“Ross!” Fritz scoffed, shaking his head. “Honestly…”
“Oh, d-don’t mind him,” Thomas said, shooting a dirty look at Ross. “He, uh, h-has a morbid sense of humor.”
“Ah whatever.” Ross checked his watch, then said, “Well, I guess I’d best take off. Got an odd shift, so…”
“R-right!” Thomas bounced on his heels, the strangeness of the past few minutes waning as he remembered his new job. “I-I-I’ll be back, uh, b-back at the apartment when mine’s done.”
“Works for me.”
“It was nice meeting you, Ross!” Fritz called after him. “Good luck on the new shift!”
Luck. Ross chuckled. He didn’t want to scorn the sentiment, but ‘luck’ hardly seemed needed. It was just a six-hour shift, midnight to six. Nothing could possibly happen in that short a timeframe, even at a place worth as much as this. He wouldn’t be needing any luck.
Do you trust your memories? On this day, create something around remember.
More Thomas stuff! Heh, because I’ve wanted to write this for awhile, and now have the excuse.
(Content warming for bullying and vaguely referenced past child abuse.)
@fnaffandomevents /Event info here!
“L-look, j-j-just give it back!” Thomas flinched at the sound of his own voice, as well as the feeling of hot tears pricking at the corners of his eyes. God, this certainly wasn’t convincing them, huh…
As if to prove the point, the tallest of the gang of teens in front of him stepped forward, leaning in to stare Thomas down. Thomas was still a bit tall for fifteen, but this guy had to be more like seventeen or eighteen, and a few inches taller… Plus, a lot tougher-looking.
Not that looking tougher than him was much of a feat, but still.
“Or what? Gonna try fightin’ back for once?” The ringleader looked back at his friends, and Thomas spared a glance at his sister’s plush, held captive by one of the bullies. Here he was, trying to be a good older brother, and…
The teen in front of Thomas turned back, a cruel smirk spreading across his face when he saw Thomas looking, and the younger boy curled back in on himself further. “Aw, don’t worry, we’ve still got your dolly, you lil’ priss.”
“I-I’m not… I-i-it’s, uh, i-it’s not…” Thomas dropped his head as the boys started laughing, muttering, “S-s-somebody’s g-gotta notice…”
“Pff, nah.” With a yelp, Thomas felt his head yanked up by the hair, and the leader whispered, “None o’ the employees come back here, so-”
“Aye, well, I suppose ye’ be right about that, lad.”
The group of bullies dispersed, yelling and cursing in shock, while Thomas just pulled back in on himself, wanting to hide the bruise on his cheek and his teary eyes. Maybe… Father was right. I am weak…
“Now, why don’ you batch of seaslugs take off and leave this lad alone, b’fore I have t’… intervene?” Thomas faintly heard footsteps as the gang took off. He thought he heard the leader yell something, but then another person in the group interrupted, “Just leave it, man!”
“Aye…” The strange, almost-robotic voice groaned, then it softened, asking Thomas,” Ho, are ye’ alright, lad? Sounds as though they did a number on ye’.”
Shyly, Thomas looked up from his lap, and could barely believe what he was looking at. One of the animatronics from out front, the pirate one… “F-Foxy?”
Despite the metal jaw, Foxy almost seemed to smile, lowering himself to the floor to face Thomas. “Huh, so this ol’ captain’s got ‘imself a fan! Tell me, lad, what’s yer name?”
“T-Thomas…” With a start, Thomas noticed his sister’s plushy sitting on the ground next to Foxy, and ran to scoop up the stuffed chicken. “Y-you got it back!” A smile pulled at his face, and he looked away nervously, mumbling, “Uh, th-thank you. M-my sister’s gonna be, um, r-really happy to get this back…”
“Ay, t’was nothing, Thomas.” Foxy seemed to look out at the rest of the restaurant, then back at the older boy in front of him. “Say, what say ye’ take a breather in me Cove for a bit? E’eryone else’ll be busy with the band’s show, and ye look like you could use a moment…”
Thomas glanced out at the tables. His mother had been dragged off by some other parents to talk out front, and Lindsey was still watching the show, and probably hadn’t even noticed her brother or her plush going missing…
The boy looked back up at the animatronic, the smile spreading across his face. “Y-yes, please.”
Foxy seemed to beam. “Well, then, welcome aboard, lad!”
All things begin somehow. On this day, create something around the idea of origin.
This ended up as one of the long ones. An alternate view of a scene that happened right before the start of ‘Ghost in the Machine,’ but never gets shown from this P.O.V.
@fnaffandomevents /Event info here!
Thomas hadn’t felt anything for a week now.
Sitting in the backroom, he’d been isolated from everyone else in the building. Even when he dared to venture out one time-careful to wait until the restaurant was closed, so that he didn’t scare any guests-nobody could see him. He was alone.
And he hated it.
He’d begun rambling to himself, along with the handful of employees he’d see enter the room.
“Oh, h-hey, uh, are you new? Ah, I-I was on the night shift, so, uh, the fact that I don’t know you doesn’t mean much…”
“Oh, uh, th-there’s a stain on your- Oh, never mind, I-I guess…”
“Heh, hang on, I-I’ll get that for you…”
That was the closest he’d come to interacting with another human since that night-quickly reaching up to grab something off of a shelf for another employee during the day. They’d questioned how they’d missed it beforehand, and Thomas could’ve sworn he saw a faint glimmer of… something in their eyes, a pause when their vision flickered over him. But in a moment, it was gone.
And that was when he was awake. For every day, for a small amount of time, he’d… slip away. He wasn’t sure to where; it felt like a deep, dreamless sleep, but as the same time, sometimes, he’d feel something pulling at his body…
Somewhere along the way, he’d caught on to it, and made certain to try not to slip away during the night shift. If he had a chance of saving his successor, or at least comforting them… He seemed to be the only one left back here, so would he pass on when somebody else came to take his place? He wasn’t desperate enough to let something like that happen, and besides, maybe he was the fluke. Still, if there was a chance of comforting his replacement when-if they followed him, then he wanted to take it.
He’d heard the voice of the new night guard, once or twice. He seemed like an alright guy; a bit abrasive, but nothing too bad! He’d thought about going to visit him, but he hadn’t wanted to risk getting past the animatronics. Maybe right before the shift’s start, just long enough to see him?
God, he just wanted to see another person again…
So, imagine Thoams’s surprise and excitement when, instead of the animatronics as he’d dreaded, he saw a young man enter the backroom one night.
He jerked upright, glancing up at the other man, taking in the uniform specifically meant for security guards. He… was this the night guard? Why was he back there? He looked fine; why would he-?!
Thomas froze, seeing a white flower clutched in the night guard’s hand. The guard dropped to his knees, muttering something under his breath while gently placing the flower on the floor. Cautiously, Thomas approached him, dropping down himself to get a closer look. With a start, the night guard’s eyes snapped up to Thomas’s face, and both of them froze. Thomas bit his lip nervously, staring back into those bright blue eyes. There… there’s no way he can see me, is there?
Thomas’s own eyes fell, taking the time to read the name-tag on the guard’s vest. “Mike.” No last name. Huh, even Thomas had his initial on his name-tag… Still he couldn’t help but smile. He was run ragged, of course, seemingly completely drained, but… but he was still standing. Er, kneeling, but…
“Heh, i-it’s nice to meet you, M-Mike,” Thomas whispered, reaching for Mike’s hand, hoping against hope that he’d finally be seen.
Of course, it wouldn’t happen like that. Mike simply pushed himself to his feet, look around the room as he did. This time, his eyes passed over Thomas seamlessly. With a sigh, he reached up to wipe his eyes, turned, and began walking out.
At this point, Thomas didn’t really care about the animatronics. Mike had gotten in here safely; that meant his shift hadn’t started yet. And knowing what the night shift could do to someone…
Thomas scrambled to his feet, taking off in a run after Mike. “H-hang on, I’m, uh, I-I’m coming!”
Just for a little. Just let me keep an eye on him. Please.
Ghost in the Machine is updated again, as of earlier this month! I know I need to get better about sharing something, even just links, here to let y’all know, but hey, here we are!
Related to that, I’m taking part in @fnaffandomevents ‘s FNAF February! I’m working on at least a drabble, sometimes something longer, for every day’s theme. We’ll see if it turns out, though... (This does mean that GitM’s update may be late again, but I’ll try to post the drabbles to FF.net and AO3 later, so that those readers can enjoy it, too!)
Related to that, though, I’m logging off for the next week, and thus won’t be posting on the exact days at first. I’ll post the first week’s entries the weekend of the 8th/9th, and then try to post on the correct days from there on out!
While I will admit this blog has been... remarkably dead, I can give you some good news, and say that I'm still making progress!
I've uploaded several chapters of GitM since I last posted, and hope to keep a 'chapter a month' schedule until the first story is finished.
I've finally finished the character bio page! Give it a look, and feel free to ask about anyone you want to know more about.
I feel I'll be able to post more art if I post it from the mobile site, so in exchange for slightly lesser photo quality and less info on every picture, I hope to post art more often!
All in all, I hope to do a better job of sharing this story with you guys, who have all been so patient with me.
With that said, any support you guys give is always appreciated-kudos/faves, comments or reviews, reblogs on this site, asks, anything helps. If you're shy, that's understandable-I'll take compliments in the form of heart emojis on anon. But the more feedback I get, the more motivated I am to work on things-as much as I love sharing with you guys, without support, it's sometimes hard to convince myself to pull this entire 'verse out of my head and onto paper. So to everyone who's ever reviewed, faved, reblogged, etc etc etc, THANK YOU! (special shoutout to @demoncowedgar, who actually took the time to draw two characters from my AU back when I was first getting this blog off the ground!)
So, yeah, long story short, this blog is back to being active! Hopefully...
