Happy Trans Day of Visibility š³ļøāā§ļø
A Torah mantle embroidered with pomegranates by Catherine Tutter (American) for Congregation Eitz Chayim עׄ ×××× (āTree of Lifeā), completed in 2011. The central Tree of Life features thirteen pomegranates, twelve for the tribes of Israel and one for Dinah, Jacob and Leah's only daughter. Its seeds formed from 613 French knots for the mitzvot. Ten mother-of-pearl buttons evoke the sephirot, while eighteen leaves symbolize chai ×× (ālifeā). Roots are anchored with sets of seven buttons for the days of creation, paired with willow leaves from the Four Species of Sukkot. A domed top, inspired by Sephardic tradition, glitters with sun, moon, and stars, flowing into Miriamās Well stitched with forty lines of metallic thread. A ceremonial garment where every stitch holds meaning, crafted over years with the involvement of the community.

"what if someone regrets transitioning" if you are 18 or over in free country usa you can walk into any tattoo parlor and ask for a tattoo that will be on your body forever and ever and ever and they will give it to you with the understanding that if you dont like the result or you regret it later that's your fucking problem and not theirs

INSULIN SENSOR RECALL - Abbot Labs
Y'all. Abbott Labs has issued a "device correction" (basically a recall) on some of their Freestyle Libre devices - they specify the Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus that I've seen. They have a site to check serial numbers, here.
If you use these, please check your device!

things that make life easier, whether explicitly a disability aid, like crutches and wheelchairs, or not, like dishwashers and dryers, should not be luxuries. people should be able to live life with ease without great expense and for many disabled people these items are not a case of being comfortable but of just being able to live at all.
Capitalism feeds of creating problems and making you pay for the solutions

so frustrating to be a skeptic with a sense of whimsy because like. I want there to be cryptids. I want there to be magic. I want there to be evidence of something we don't fully understand and can't explain. but then 99% of the "proof" out there for that stuff is like. the most obvious scam you've ever seen in your life.
accidentally typed "trench kiss" instead of "french kiss". anyone wanna hold hands and kiss in a muddy hole full of rats as bullets and grenades and artillerary shells fly over our heads?

to my fellow jews on here who say the past 80 years were good for usā¦just know we still topped the hate crimes list in the usa for each of those years. and that israel still fought wars against antisemitic countries.
this also negates so many struggles we did have including segregation and redlining, being held hostage in ussr countries, being slandered by the un even in the 70s, the mena expulsions and having to flee oppressive governments, the iranian revolution that ended with us persecuted with travel restrictions. uganda BANNING JUDAISM.
there has never been a good time. but we survive and we endure.
just realize that our ancestors dealt with the same things we are struggling with right now. hashem has always been there with us to give us hope and help us continue. š
and on that note: do something for shabbat. turn off your phone. get out your candlesticks. say a bracha. talk to hashem. read tehillim. bring a little light into the darkness. it truly helps. every spark helps.
an imperfect ally is better than a perfect bystander
the old boomer who "doesn't get the gays" but still votes blue every election is still a better ally to you than every well-spoken, woke millennial who says all the right shit but didn't vote because they "didn't like either option"
the lady who voted for trump but has changed her mind since and is calling her senator every day is a better ally to you than anyone very politely apologizing for how awful things are and not doing anything to actually help
Give me the granny who only started re-thinking her feelings when her beloved grandkid came out as trans over anyone who can spout queer theory but gatekeeps transmascs at every step.
I'll take the unlearning-trying-my-best messy allies over the my-ass-smells-like-roses-because-i've-read-marx-seventeen-times "perfect" community member any fucking day.
Listen. My stepmom is so religious that she researches local churches in every country she goes to for fun on vacation. In 2020, she didnāt like Trump but she voted for him because the Democrats (quote) āstand for divorce and abortion and same sex marriage.ā She once told me that gays will burn in hell.
But when she found out that I (a woman) was dating a nonbinary person, the first thing she did was ask to meet them. I hadnāt even come out to her before then, I was so scared to do it, I had to get my brother to do it for me. When we visited, she took me aside and asked me how their pronouns worked because she didnāt want to offend them. She welcomed my partner into their home and did everything she could to make them feel welcome. She gave us so many gifts. There was even a note that thanked us both for visiting and a flower she had picked fresh from their garden. And trust me when I say, this was the last thing I expected. Before we got there, I was dreading the trip so much, I even shortened it by a few days.
Iām just saying, what people do proves more about them than what they say.
