A/N: My first answered fic request! Thank you so much for being patient. I apologise to all others who also sent in asks. Between my general tendency for perfectionism, I have university and a job, so I'll be slow to get to each one. I'll always try to write for these prompts though, just letting you guys know it might take a while. Thanks for understanding!

On a particularly chilly winter night, at the cusp of 8 PM, your beloved partner Jervis rests sunken in the pillowy comfort of his armchair by lamplight. He reads from a novel cupped between his hands, and the lamp casts a warm, yellow glow over his body and surroundings, elevating the homeliness of the view from across the room. He looked so serene, you thought, observing the gentle curl of the edges of his lips to form a tranquil smile while his eyes wafted over the words on the page.
As seasoned as he appeared, reading always did manage to soften the wrinkles on his skin and youthen his image. It seemed as though, in his mind, he was amidst a flowery meadow, gazing upon the floating monarchs that adorned the surrounding skies. Each word was a step further into the grassy knolls, treading himself closer to the freedom the fluttering wings guided him to. In the dreamland he retreats to, he brings his eyes close to the butterflies so that he may admire the tale the impression of their coloured wings tells him.
The sight filled you with so much love and affection for him that it was becoming every bit more difficult to maintain your controlled distance, even if it had just been for the sake of letting him have this moment to himself. Besides, as much as you ached to be in his arms again, as was normally the case, part of you contented in just watching him enjoy his peace. You couldn’t help how adorable you found him with his rectangular spectacles perched on his nose. And his endearing sense of fashion—oh! How cosy he looked in his maroon sweater!
Just as you wandered further into the mystical feelings that your smitten gaze perpetuated, roving over the sight of him, Jervis' own lifts from his book and meets yours. His smile grows far more fond than any book could inspire upon noticing your adoring presence, and his eyes crinkle to bring back those beloved, joyful creases at the edges of his eyes and along his cheeks.
“Whatever are you doing standing there, my dear?” he asks, marking his page. “You naughty thing; you had me wondering when you would return.” His eyes seemed to glint while he admired you so openly from his place in the chair. With this, he gingerly removes his glasses and folds them shut, placing it atop his now closed book and moving both to rest upon the coffee table in front of him.
Gently bemused by your slowness to join him, he tilts his head and pats his lap, as if to remind you of where you are expected. Seeing your figure holding onto the doorway to the living room reminded him awfully of a kitten being tempted by a can of tuna from a strange, albeit kindly looking, human. In noticing this, he invites you with a silky flourish of the tongue. “Come, darling, sit with me.”
You could never refuse a compellingly sweet offer like that as much as you thought you ought to. The hands that gripped the wall you partially hid behind brush away from the plaster and part as you drift towards his comfortably alluring form. Jervis' smile broadens with each step you pad closer, opening his arms to receive you.
Once you're close enough to him, he wraps his large arms around your body and carefully pulls you into his lap, enfolding you completely in his embrace. His grasp is snug, and he lets out a pleased hum now that he can enjoy your scent in his nose again.
“It's not like you to spend so much time away from me,” he says, his voice as soft as the kisses he presses to your temple. “Is something the matter, my love?”
The tenderness and perceptiveness in the way he understood something must have been amiss at your change in behaviour was more than enough for you to collapse into the wondrous realm of a rushing stream of kisses. His face, cheeks, and jaw: all were favoured. It returned the delighted grin to his visage following his concern, and the edges of his lips rose with his cheeks, knowing that some part of your worries were soothed again.
“Ah, there you are again, my sweet,” he sighs happily, the loving smile on his face complete once you're cradled in his lap again. “Now, would you be so kind as to tell me, my dear, whatever had you spending so much time away? It's very much unlike you, darling. I know you don't have a sense for alone-time, hmm?” he teases, a soft chuckle rumbling from his chest as he boops your nose. Though his expression soon sobers, and with gently furrowed brows, he continues, “I do hope I haven't done anything to upset you. I couldn't live with myself if it were true.”
He recalls your propensity for physical affection in every facet of domestic life. Every evening he returns home from work, you're there standing in the doorway to lavish him in hugs and kisses first thing. You choose to situate your chair at the dinner table right next to his own rather than sitting across from him, all for the sake of being able to touch him during mealtimes. Your shoulder would be pressed up right against his side, and he uses the opportunity to wrap his free arm around you and pull you close. His hand would tenderly caress the skin of your arm while your head lay on his gently rising chest, listening to the heartbeat that pulsed in your skull. He had the habit of pressing kisses to your hand or face between the bites he fed you. But perhaps your favourite thing to do was lay on top of him and cuddle his body—the extra padding always did make the most delightful cushioning that no pillow could suffice against.
Under normal circumstances, every possible moment you had to spare would be spent with either your eyes or hands on him, oftentimes both. No amount of time that passes in the relationship withers the closeness you want to feel with him. No—rather, it bloomed. Each touch, kiss, and affectionate word spoken were the droplets that irrigated the vast flowerbeds of your love. And he welcomes it. Every gesture of yours, he returns in kind, knowing how happy it makes you, which is why he now gazes upon you with a patient and fond smile, hoping to coax some form of explanation from your pretty lips.
Quite troubled at the thought of him getting the wrong idea and blaming himself, you hasten to explain that it was nothing that he did at all. Instead, you thought he needed some space for himself after every day you spend in each other's arms.
He coos adoringly and cups your cheek, leaning in to kiss between your brows. His velvety tone rippled with the soft British lilt in his voice as his response came.
“Oh, sweet darling… Aren't you forgetting?”
The chirping of crickets from beyond filled the moments between your reply.
“Forgetting what?” you chanced on asking at last.
“That you married a man as equally inseparable from you…”
(aka silly half baked thoughts abt jervis + a reader w/ a short fuse. vague allusions of hypnotism at the end cuz. y'know. jervis.)
jervis tetch, when he's more down the rabbit hole than usual, can deal with your temper just fine. he almost finds it amusing in a way — until you get personal, and in that case, he'll find ways to snark back. oh, he's got a temper too — he just happens to keep his under a flimsy facade of courteous and gentlemanly behaviour.
if he does try to go with the route of de-escalation, expect it to be done in a mildly condesending but well-meaning manner. he's more fond of distracting you to disarm you instead of immediately going toe-to-toe with you.
still, there are moments he can't resist prodding just a little. of course, until it grows stale. it's no fun and you're being all mean and nasty and "off with their head!"-ish. no, no, that won't do at all!
surprisingly forgiving if you feel guilty afterwards. more resentful if you're not. play nice or he'll remind you that he's got ways to make you.
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
