#so she canonically has been#but also ive done some research about pre-gps sea navigation#and tbh theres not TOO much she can do in her position#it largely relied on dead reckoning (knowing where youve gone)#theres canonically not really maps of mana except for the navy#so jays best bet is knowing what direction they're heading roughly where thevye been and where their destination MIGHT BE#fun fact that surprised me: there was no way to caluclate longitude pre-1800#or something im not exact on the date#because they theoretically knew how that would be done but in practice it was impossible#because it would have relied on reliable clocks (which did not work on ships) and complex up to date celestial charts
