Hey I just found out that apparently fascists and the like are using cottagecore to subtly recruit people, by disguising fascist rhetoric with cute cottagecore/trad femme aesthetics. So I just wanted to say that this blog is not, and will never be in support of fascism or anything resembling fascism in any way.
alright, you 14 so lemme explain something to you rq. keep in mind this doesn't mean im mad at you or anything n nor do I think you're a bad person. I feel that it's important that you know this coming from:
cottagecore and variants of it has been used for fascist propaganda for ages. it has been used to advertise the 'true pastoral england' the 'canadian vacation getaway', and the 'american dream' the romanticization of purchasing private property to escape an economic system centering around private property.
it land that ultimately was taken by indigenous peoples around the world. it is our land, constantly advertised as an escape or adventure for wyt people get up in. have you ever wondered why a majority of the cottagecore community is wyt? why you only see europran style art or no subcommunity for people with different cultures? it's built on eurocentrism. its been inherent to eurocentrism, because it has a wyt view of indigenous land, through and through.
many ppls have been responsible for colonialism throughout history, but that's not what this convo about. they're tryna recruit people like you bcs the main values of cottagecore is supposedly 'rejecting modernity and embracing tradition', which mind you, is also fascist propaganda coming from wyt ppl even if you mean different things.
iont think you're a bad person or whatever if you like cute cat statues n a garden you hope to have some day. but I ask you to please educate yourself on how many of these issues are inherent to the cottagecore concept and talk to other indigenous people on here about how it's affected them. please don't be turning your head away from us when we talk abt this.
I'll add some links too, just give me a min
