Wilt thou give me a lock of thy jet-black tresses? But I don’t have any black dresses. Your hair. All right.
ANNE OF GREEN GABLES (1985) dir. Kevin Sullivan
“But L.M. Montgomery never intended to code Anne Shirley as bisexual!”
Never intended, sure. Consider the possibility that, because of the time in which it was written, she may not have realized that she herself was queer and that she just wrote what she THOUGHT was a normal dynamic between girls? I related to this SO much. I felt about some of my friends the way Anne felt about Diana. I never thought it was too much. I never found it strange because SHE was ME. Now, with the understanding that I have always been bisexual and that I was, in fact, deeply infatuated with those girls in my youth, this dynamic between Anne and Diana seems pretty obvious.
YOU can have your own personal experience with AOGG and how it affects your relationships with others but that doesn’t change the fact that Anne and Diana were BELOVED, PLATONIC FRIENDS and that’s SO BEAUTIFUL IN AND OF ITSELF. They don’t need to be queer to love each other insanely deeply.
What an insult to LM Montgomery to say she just didn’t realize what she was writing. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Anne Of Green Gables
i watched this show earlier in the year when i was going through the worst time of my entire life and it honestly healed me a little bit so here is my tribute to anne and gilbert and the sweetest, gentlest love story <3

Anne and Gilbert - Anne Of Green Gables (1934).
Random Gilbert Blythe moments: 390/?
Anne Shirley
Akage no Anne (赤毛のアン)
modern gilbert blythe would be a frat boy who wears too tight shirts and plays soccer and grows one of those thick mustaches that are popular rn because he thinks it helps distract from his baby face. he’s also a massive nerd and volunteers at the university health services. everyone on yik yak thirsts over him about once a month
anne would work for the school newspaper and wear those long jorts and is campus famous for her toxic on and off relationship with roy gardner. her friends finally convince her to go to a frat party and are confused when some random drunk frat guy is bouncing around her excitedly and she’s like yeah that’s gil we grew up together
Never put someone else's writing into ChatGPT or other generative AI. Also never submit someone else's work to a contest without their consent, even if it's in their name, even if you have the best of intentions. And definitely never change parts of their writing to include product placement for a certain brand of baking powder. You'd think it would never happen but it happened to my friend Anne Shirley and she was mortified.
Christmas morning broke on a beautiful white world. It had been a very mild December and people had looked forward to a green Christmas; but just enough snow fell softly in the night to transfigure Avonlea.
reading Anne of Green Gables for the first time is so funny bc Anne is primarily a sweet, eager, earnest, dramatic, imaginative child who’s taking the world with open arms and loving life, and also she’s trying to explode Gilbert Blythe with her mind
tribute piece to the 2025 anne shirley anime. i was not expecting to like this anime as much as i did initially going in, but it really captivated me with its gorgeous animation, wholesome vibes, emotional beats, vintage aesthetics, and the CHARACTERS!!
anne was really strong - as she should be, being the protagonist - and this really does feel like an anime for the girls. its uplifting, romantic, fantastical yet real and human. i really loved watching anne's journey and growth from girlhood to womanhood and watching her, as a woman of the 19th century, work for an education and make a career out of her passion. i couldn't recommend it more if ur into period pieces!!
