went back to pottery for the new year and they said philippa, what little creature will you make and i said i was thinking about rabbits and john holds up a very charming march hare he’d already made and i think well that’s it then and everyone says lovely things about my rabbit

trying to get in touch with being gay or whatever as a largely non practising gay or whatever roughly ten years after the euphoric honeymoon period of entirely online and largely fiction mediated community bonding

went to The Big Gay Thing to maybe say hi to people i tangentially know (did not) and to otherwise absorb atmosphere. i don’t know if it was mostly men or if i’ve reverse-biased myself after a lifetime avoiding mostly-men spaces, but it seemed mostly men to me. saw some guys impromptu wrestling behind a tent. envied casual shirtlessness (don’t care if it’s cliche, don’t care if it’s technically doable, i cannot be convinced this doesn’t matter). kept realising i just straight up have never been around this many gay people, in number or proportion. left very charmed and very sad and wondering if i could make it work next year, got churros, realised just now that many people think in next weeks not next years.
