Not every story is about seeing yourself in it. Sometimes it’s about learning to see other people too.
anyway, the loml and I went to a party to celebrate my college graduation, left early to have s*x, ate cocktail shrimp and macarons in bed together after 3 rounds, and went to sleep by 10:30. So I guess life is okay or whatever.
its funny how nobody said anything when the casting calls came out with it specifically being mentioned that the roles were open to people of all races/sexual orientation etc etc but as soon as poc gets actually get cast as main characters people lose their shit..... it really makes u wonder about how many people see messages like "open to everyone" and just assume that its performative because their lizard brains are convinced that only a white people should get the important roles
I love being blocked by racists. Gives me that spice of life.
I remember being so young and so deeply and vocally wrong about so much… and let me say, I hope y’all have lots of growing left to do.
i literally cannot fucking believe people they have the fucking audacity to bully a literal fucking kid who got the role ON HER OWN ACTING MERITS just because they're too obsessed with their idea of a perfect white blonde main character its absolutely disgusting
unpopular opinion but i’m disappointed by who they cast for annabeth…a part of her character is defying the dumb blonde stereotype.
I don’t even have constructive criticism for you. Grow up and shut up.
@ghostqueen99 Grow up and shut up? For stating my own personal opinion on my own personal blog? This is my blog for me to share my thoughts. If you disagree, just ignore my post or block me.
Constructive criticism on what? People are allowed to be disappointed with casting choices. Just because you’re fine with it doesn’t mean I have to like it…I’m sure she’ll do great as Annabeth and I’m still very excited to watch the show. It’s just not how I pictured Annabeth, given the plethora of times her stormy grey eyes and blonde hair are mentioned across both series.
Please realize that not everyone’s opinions have to match with yours; you can enjoy a piece of media and still not be entirely happy with every decision the crew makes. If you disagree with my opinion, simply move on. I’m not attacking anyone who’s happy with the casting choice, and I’m not attacking any of the cast for not matching with my idea of the trio. It is just my personal opinion; it’s not the end of the world for you, or for me. There are bigger things in life to worry about.
Am I disappointed? Yes. Am I gonna throw a fit about it? No. Like you, I just hope that the show is ultimately good.
That wasn’t an invitation to argue babe 💕 disliking a character’s casting because of her race is racist. A white actress would also not have had grey eyes. A Black actress *could* have “stormy grey eyes and blonde hair”, so really, your problem is that she is Black. And if you think grey eyes and blonde hair are the important parts of Annabeth’s character, you need to reread the books. If you want to be racist, say it with your chest.
And imagine thinking that you posting your racist opinion anywhere on the internet prevents you from being called out… completely out of touch. I didn’t go looking for you specifically- the content came across my dashboard, and I have an obligation to call out blatant racism :)
Y’all really put so much vitriol and venom into this fandom. It’s exhausting.
How do people not understand that the books and the show are separate things. Like the books aren’t going away! If you’re a racist asshole, shut up about the show, don’t watch, and reread the books and live out your perfect fantasy. Leave Leah alone. If you are a decent person, be excited that we are getting a new, fresh, separate retelling of a series that is quite frankly outdated at this point.
People who are upset about fan art consistency can shut up. People who claim she was a ‘diversity hire’, shut up. People who are bullying a child, PLEASE shut up. No more “well I’m all for diversity but-” you are racist. Shut the fuck up.
Annabeth’s character and spirit can be embodied by any young girl or woman who has courage, strength, humanity, fear, love, ambition, grief, pride, and obstacles to overcome- she does not belong to you and your singular experience and interpretation. Stop whining and grow the hell up. It’s a tv show about fictional books. Can’t believe I have to say this in the year of our gods 2022.
Funny how y’all are so focused on “casting the best actor regardless of race” but when the actual best actor cast is POC then suddenly that rhetoric doesn’t matter anymore.
unpopular opinion but i’m disappointed by who they cast for annabeth…a part of her character is defying the dumb blonde stereotype.
I don’t even have constructive criticism for you. Grow up and shut up.
not percy in the show being a strawberry blond/light brunette. they better dye his hair 😬
grover being played by a desi actor makes my little indian heart extremely happy
i really like the people they cast for the golden trio, and i think they’ll be great in the show, but my one question is, why the heck are they so small? Walker’s only 4 foot 9, and Leah’s even shorter, at like 4 foot 7. I don’t know how tall Aryan is, but I swear, when i was eleven, two years younger than them, i was like 5 foot 2 and would’ve been towering over them. i mean, i was kinda tall for my age, but still. i just don’t understand. they’re so tiny. miniscule, even. but somehow they’re still around my age????? it just doesn’t add up.
Babe what the fuck are you even talking about. People are different heights. They are real human beings, the correct age for the casting, with real human heights. Height has no impact on acting skill. What the fuck.
I quit tumblr cus I was tired of beefing with children about literal FICTION but I’m back, I’m angry, and I sincerely do not care about who I piss off ❤️ if you’re being racist, sexist, misogynistic, etc etc etc about children or childrens books/media, you are fucking pathetic
I'm sorry but what happened to book accuracy??? Uncle Rick explain.
Like yes I totally support diversity but when you already have characters, why change them? New story? Go wild. Old story? Leave it alone.
Please shut the fuck up. Imagine whining about someone’s skin color. Annabeth can be the same character in any race, because zero percent about what makes her interesting has to do with her whiteness.
GOD racists that are too pussy to be racist piss me off. “i want a book accurate annabeth” you mean you want a WHITE annabeth.
just say you don’t like black people with your chest, own your bigotry.
