Pepper laughed. “Yeah, Maria and I are obviously the queens, Gus and Tony are just here to serve us,” she joked. “I think Joe could probably handle things in a more subtle way, but Carter might have picked up some Hulk, smash inclinations from Bruce, bless them both. Although maybe a competent enough lawyer could claim that he was acting in self-defense or something like that, if the paps were trespassing.”

“And instead of crowns, you’ve both got those gorgeous red locks; it all works out.” He laughed and nodded at her assessment of his boys. “Yeah, that sounds about right. If it were Carter, the damage from one hit would be enough that nobody would buy the self-defense thing even if it were technically true. And if Joe decided to hit ‘em, I’d worry he’d break some of the bones in his hand.”

“You’re standing in a pretty cool place. I think the frustrations are about to pay off if that means I’m doing something I love. Making a difference. Fighting the good fight I guess.” He shrugged, a little on the mixed feelings cocktail side of things about the whole event, “Not much. I kinda want to whole process to be quick and painless, you know? Just get going”

“Best place to keep my eye on all you kids. Hey, that’s all you can hope for, right? You’re lucky you figured out what you wanted early on-- doesn’t happen for everyone.” He nodded, but a smile curled at the edge of his lips. “Just don’t let it go by too fast, alright? It’s worth taking a moment to enjoy the big accomplishments in life.”

A snort left Tony, his eyes watching the numbers carefully, “Of course you don’t, why do you think he brings it up so often? Go along with it and it becomes significantly less fun.” He went quiet for a moment, seemingly absorbed with the data but the corner of his mouth twitched, “You can’t deny that it would be awesome.” A crease appeared between Tony’s eyes and fingers moved to the screen, swiping and expanding, typing here and there. “Sounds like a simple glitch. Easy enough to correct. Steve won’t have to worry that pretty patriotic noggin for a second.” 

“Thank you for the parenting advice,” he commented dryly, rolling his eyes. “But I certainly can deny that. How awesome would it be on Gus, huh?” He carefully flexed and extended each of the metal fingers while Tony was focused on the data, frowning when the index finger twitched again. “Yeah? Got time to fix it right now? I gotta text him and let him know you’re gonna work on it so I don’t get chewed out later. He likes to be in the know about this stuff.”

Daisy groaned after stubbing her big toe on the leg of a chair. “You know,” she started, irritation clear in her voice. “You’d figure my reflexes would make me want to.. quake this chair away. But nope, still stumbling around like the graceful lady that I am.” She shrugged, curling her toe in her boot. “Once a klutz, always a klutz.”

Bucky looked up from his phone, lips twitching as he tried not to smile. “Guess it doesn’t work that way. I’m more concerned that you could feel that through your boots; I think that’s a sign you might need some new ones. Less fashion, more function.”

Steve blushed at Bucky’s words, “They’d never believe it though, because they all think that Captain America is as vanilla as they come.” He murmured, fingers tightening in Bucky’s hair keeping his husband’s lips against his neck, “They would definitely think you’d corrupted me.” He teased with a chuckle, that turned into a barely there moan at the nipping. “God, Buck. Gonna get us caught.” 

He laughed quietly, breath puffing against Steve’s skin. “They do, don’t they? How’d a big hunkin’ man like you get that reputation, huh? Can’t waste this body on being pure all the time,” he teased, hands sliding slowly up over the muscles that curved around Steve’s sides. “Maybe I did corrupt you,” he mused, smirking and tilting his head up for a proper kiss. “You sayin’ you want me to stop?”

“A long time. You forget how much time has passed since the last visit. With a million other worlds to explore, Earth does not really match the rest.” she smiled “The last time i was here an empire controlled most of the world.”

“So... longer than I wasn’t totally around,” he concluded, laughing. “Yeah, that’d make a hell of a difference. But if you’ve seen a million other worlds, I’m sure nothing here’s gonna shock you.”

“I know that feeling. How long’s it been for you?”

Grabbing the bag to stop it, he over his shoulder. “I mean probably – boxing not your thing, or something?”

“I like boxing just fine. Even won a few championships, once upon a time.” He dropped his gear and started to wrap his hand, avoiding making eye contact.

Steve let a soft moan out against Bucky’s neck that could only be heard by the two of them before looking around trying to see if there really was anyone around. “Yes, like that.” He murmured back, he pressed a kiss to Bucky’s jaw, silently hoping that his husband would be willing to do something again if only because of how the risk was so thrilling. 

“Everyone always expects you to be so good and pure, Stevie. If only they knew what a kinky little shit you are.” He grinned, shaking his head before tilting it so he could press his lips to Steve’s neck, nipping gently at the skin. “What would they think of you if they saw how worked up you got over such filthy things?”

“You say once like it didn’t feel like forever. Actually, you’re definitely right. I think I never had to learn much because I already understood it. I feel bad for people who don’t get started on language sooner.” He laughed at Bucky’s response, knowing how bad graduation seemed to be every year, “It’s supposed to be hot anyways. But I’m glad I’ll have a lot of people there to see me walk.”

“Everything feels like it takes forever when you’re frustrated by it. Trust me, from where I was standing, you were amazing.” He pulled a face when Daniel mentioned it being hot, but it was always hot and miserable out when graduation came around, so he didn’t know why he still let it surprise him. Blocking out bad memories, he supposed. “None of us would miss it for the world, kid. You planning anything fun to celebrate?”

Steve sighed softly, happily at the squeeze leaning forward to rest his head against Bucky’s shoulder, looking up at him. “It’s more weird for the rest of the world. I wouldn’t mind the things in public.” He dropped his voice to a whisper, “Gives me a little bit of a rush.” He muttered into Bucky’s ear with a wink. 

He laughed, hands rubbing over Steve’s back before he allowed one to slip lower, squeezing Steve’s ass to feel the unyielding muscle through the fabric of his slacks. “Like that?” he murmured, grinning as his hand moved back up to safe territory. It was pretty thrilling that they could even be close like this and only risk some embarrassment if they happened to be caught, rather than attack or arrest.

“They can go back to blaming the boogeyman, then, if they’re gonna be childish like that.” Pepper couldn’t help but laugh at his words. “I like to think the babies I made with Tony are more than pretty. I kind of hoped they would both get my hair.” She giggled. “I’m sure your kids will have something to say about that. Between the four of them, and their combination of brawn and brains, I’m pretty sure they could have any paps out on their asses in seconds.”

“Yeah, you two did alright with those. And one out of two ain’t bad, right? Helps you and Maria stand out as the real alphas of the family.” He couldn’t help but grin at that mental image. “Yeah, I bet they could. Depending on which one spotted them first, I don’t know how bad the headlines might turn out. I don’t want any of them ending up in the papers for assaulting some asshat with a camera any more than I want to have to take ‘em out myself.”

“Oh, we won’t need to bother with massage– it’ll have to come right off. Don’t worry, I’ll build you a better one, shotgun attachment free of charge,” Tony spoke with a dry, almost distracted sarcasm as he scanned through the last diagnostics before pulling some electrode like stickers, placing one on the inside of the metal wrist and a little further up to the inside of his elbow. New data started to flood in, replacing the old and Tony made a noncommittal noise at the mention of Steve– he absolutely would freak out. “About how long ago did you first notice it?” 

“Something tells me you’ve been talking to Carter, and I’ll just get it out there right now that I don’t approve.” He held out the arm for Tony to place the stickers, resting it and watching the numbers move on the screen without the slightest clue what any of it meant. “Three days? Maybe four? Thought it was nothing at first, but then I kept catching it move. Tapped against my mug a few times this morning while I was holding it, so it happens when it’s flexed, too.”

“Y’know… you could always make yourself useful and hold this thing for me. Or join, your choice.”

Bucky eyed him for a moment before looking down at his own hands to finish tucking the wrap in place. “You’ll manage, I’m sure,” he responded gruffly, keeping Grant in his peripheral vision as he made his way to a bag across the room.
