Hi. Would you like more things for the fantasy age campaign Iâm in? No? Too bad.
as much as i love themes and symbolism something was bugging me about the way they are talked about on here sometimes and i just made a connection between that and how in the moe database book the author talks about the use of deep and emotional storylines being a moe element... theres something to that i think
I'm finding this hard to follow, since I don't really note how people are talking about these things. Is it that people are placing symbolism and themes on a pedestal beyond the narrative, and like, ignoring the plain text? Or is it that they are playing in the space of the abstract to serve themselves more than the analysis? Those are the only things I can think of right now.
a sample of posts i was thinkin about
(specific to 'haunting the narrative'/'doomed by the narrative' because this is the most recent phrase ive seen turned into a meme like this)
annual reminder not to feed the ghosts! yes I know it seems like a cute tradition, but these are wild spirits with specialized diets, and humans unintentionally cause serious havoc by interfering with their ectosystem
sorry i should have clarified, don't feed the feral ghosts. if you are hosting domesticated or ancestral spirits and have done your research on how to honor them properly, that is fine obviously. but please do not invite wandering ghosts onto your doorstep with offerings, that will lead to infestations!!!
every time I see this I get emotional. kermit....
look how he's nestled in there...
Compiled some basic information I know about drawing fat characters for beginners since I've been seeing more talk about absence of really basic traits in a lot of art lately.
Morpho Fat and Skin Folds on Archive.org (for free!)
Funniest (fantasy) way to find out you're trans I think. Assigned male by ancient prophecy
Marching to my own tunes
What able bodied authors think I, an amputee and a wheelchair user, would want in a scifi setting:
Tech that can regenerate my old meat legs.
Robot legs that work just like meat legs and are functionally just meat legs but robot
Literally anything that would mean I don't have to use a wheelchair.
If I do need to use a wheelchair, make it fly or able to "walk me" upstairs
What I actually want:
Prosthetic covers that can change colour because I'm too indecisive to pick one colour/pattern for the next 5+ years.
A leg that I can turn off (seriously, my above knee prosthetic has no off switch... just... why?)
A leg that won't have to get refitted every time I gain or loose weight.
A wheelchair that I can teleport to me and legs I can teleport away when I'm too tired to keep walking. And vice versa.
In that same vein, legs I can teleport on instead of having to fiddle around with the sockets for half an hour.
Prosthetic feet that don't require me to wear shoes. F*ck shoes.
Actually accessible architecture, which means when I do want to use my wheelchair, it's not an issue.
Prosthetic legs with dragon-claw feet instead of boring human feet or just digigrade prosthetics that are just as functional as normal human-shaped ones.
A manual wheelchair with the option to lift my seat up like those scissor-lift things so I'm not eye-level with everyone's butt on public transport/so I can reach the top shelf by myself.
A prosthetic foot that lights up when it hits the ground like those children's shoes.
A few additions I remember seeing in the comments on my old account:
holographic prosthetic covers
transformers-style mobility aids that can fold into the shapes of different aids (e.g. a wheelchair that can fold into a cane)
prosthetic covers with pockets/hidden compartments (kind of surprised this isn't a thing already).
find my leg (like find my iphone, but for your legs when you haven't worn them in a while lol)
TLDR: Stop assuming every disabled person would want to be as close to "normal" as possible in your works. Some absolutely would and having options for them if fine, but I rarely see any examples of media showing those of us who don't. start letting amputees in your scifi works have fun with our prosthetics, fix the problems real amputees are already talking about instead of what you think are the issues and make your settings as a whole accessible!
more stuff about becoming a god being inherently dehumanizing pls
too much focus on Ascension or becoming Greater not enough focus on what is Lost of you
you're not a person anymore, just a personification. you're a concept, an abstraction. all neatly defined boundaries and borders, none of the vagueries or blurring of lines or grey areas that come from being mortal.
you can never change, now. never grow or evolve, you are this, forever, stagnant. and the thing you've been made to embody might not even be your best trait.
The Crocodile Hunter style of writing involves chasing after cool-looking ideas that wander by and tackling them into submission.
I donât recommend it for the long-term because itâs exhausting, but if there isnât at least a LITTLE bit of Crocodile Hunter in your writing, Iâm probably not going to read it.
Kings of Sorts will resume Jun 6, 2024! see you then.
this thursday!!!
When I was little my momâs meatloaf was my favorite food. But ONLY her meatloaf. I didnât like anyone elseâs, and she told me that she would teach me how to make it when I was older. And when I was like 19? She finally taught me, but she told me never to tell anyone else and I was like weird but okay
Anyway, she was super fucking homophobic and abusive to me when I told her I was gay, so hereâs the recipe
4-6 lbs of Hamburger/turkey burger
1 pk onion soup mix OR ranch mix
1 TBs ketchup
1 Tbs spicy brown mustard,
1 Tbs bbq sauce
1 Tbs steak sauce
1 egg
mix, shape into a loaf in a big pan, and bake at 350 for 2 hrs (maybe 2 and a half if youâre feeling dangerous)
You can get almost all of these ingredients at the dollar store, and have leftovers if itâs just you. The leftovers make great tacos if (taco seasoning is also like a dollar). Enjoy your revenge loaf
hereâs a mashed potato recipe from my homophobic mother that i swore to never share that would pair perfectly!
(6 servings)
-2lbs red potatoes
-1 cup butter (2 sticks)
-1 cup cream cheese (1 pack)
-Chives (optional)
-Salt & Pepper to taste
1. drop those bad boys (potatoes) in a big ol pot. U donât even have to chop them just wash them
2. boil til soft!
3. Drain
4. Mash (usually theyâre small enough you can use a fork if u donât have one of those squashers) until its a pretty chunky mix
5. add the other stuff. Keep mashing
I like my mashed potato consistancy more lumpy but its all up to you!! Peel the potatoes or keep them on, it literally makes the creamiest fluffiest mashed potatoes which she always served with the nastiest fuckin meatloaf
So after spending hours combing through the recipes in the comments of this post I have created a cookbook. Feel free to use it. The link should work for everyone, its the only file on the google drive! I have referenced all of the recipes I used, all of which are from this thread. I made it for myself, but figured after all that work I should probably share. Happy spite cooking!Â

RECIPE DAY
I need to add a kimchi recipe to this.. From âMommy Dearestâ
Oh wow! The feedback from this has been overwhelming! So many additional recipes and stories, I just donât have time to add them all to the collaborative cookbook! So in the drive I included a google doc version of my copy of the cookbook.Â
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1W93dKYNiRu3mMHXimuLYO7rtLM4pTH2o/view?usp=sharing
Feel free to add your recipes to it, it should be editable for everyone! Just please be kind to each other, and donât delete each others work! It warms my heart how collaborative this has become!
With love,Â

hey, donât cry. one half flour one half yogurt knead into dough and fry for easy flatbread and dip in balsamic vinegar, okay?
After three batches, my findings so far:
I use full fat Greek yoghurt and self-rising flour
Ratio by weight
Add a pinch of salt
Knead until no longer sticky, adding more flour if necessary
Roll them with olive oil instead of flour and fry in an otherwise unoiled, preheated pan (medium heat) (trust in the lord; it will seem like it's going to stick to the pan at first but they'll unstick in about 15 seconds)
Roll them thin but not too thin; mine take about 45 seconds on either side
Serving with garlic butter is also a very good option
Iâm gonna be eating these for a month
This actually works?? Two-ingredient bread??
I gotta try it.
That's...naan.
That's naan?
*runs to Google*
HOLY SHIT THAT IS NAAN! HOW DID I NOT KNOW NAAN WAS THAT EASY TO MAKE?
