right now im tired and i wont post any art on my account. truely, im scared of being harassed because of my sawyers design. it breaks my heart, but i think i need a break. maybe sometimes im gonna post yarnaby or other toy, but not sawyer.

it makes me really sad, but i have no choice. i love everyone, no matter of their skin color.

It’s honestly exhausting to see how some people react when they realize not everyone shares the same perspective.

Right now this is happening a lot with Harley, a character who doesn’t even have an official design yet. The ex-director from MOB Entertainment said he imagined Harley as a Black person (which is totally fine) and somehow that turned into people treating that idea like a rule everyone must follow with no room for in the interpretation

Here’s the thing, a lot of artists saw that comment and thought it was cool. They liked the idea, adopted it into their headcanons, and made amazing designs. That’s great, truly. That’s literally what fandom and art are about; interpretation, creativity, and expressing your own perspective.

But then there’s the other side of it: people going around harassing artists who drew Harley differently. I’ve seen artists on Tumblr and other platforms taking breaks from posting their work just because people keep attacking them over how they designed a character that, once again, still has no official appearance. That’s not defending representation. That’s just bullying people for creating.

Art is interpretation. When someone draws Harley as Black, Asian, ginger, white, or anything else, they’re not “erasing” anything, they’re showing their personal vision of the character. That’s how fandom has always worked.

I personally have my own design that I really like. It doesn’t match everyone else’s headcanon, and that’s completely fine. Having a different interpretation of a fictional character without an official design doesn’t make someone racist or a bad person. It just means they’re engaging with the character in their own way. And this isn’t only about me. I’ve seen plenty of artists getting hate just for having a different perspective, and that’s what bothers me the most. Fandom should be a space where people feel comfortable sharing their creativity, not a place where they’re pressured into silence.

At the end of the day, headcanons are not rules. They’re personal interpretations. No single fan gets to decide what everyone else is allowed to imagine. It’s okay if you don’t like someone’s interpretation. No one is forcing you to. There are countless other designs out there that might fit what you prefer, trust me. But it’s NOT okay to harass people until they stop expressing themselves
