The apocalypse has come and gone, and against all odds, Pharloom remains standing. Vise: Entrances to the Fungal Uplands have been secured, with minor activity reported at the gates of the Weeping City. However, Deepnest remains our primary concern.
Hornet: Apprise me of the current situation.
Vise: Ten or so cycles past, a routine patrol was ambushed without warning by a dirtcarver swarm. We hoped the incident isolated... but attacks persist, crawling ever closer to our core.
Hornet: Do you believe these coordinated strikes?
Vise: No. Though they demonstrate a viciousness not seen since the days of the infection, they overwhelm by sheer numbers rather than strategy.
Hornet: Ah! That is... concerning.
Hornet: But it seems unlikely a new power has emerged to claim the region. Something else has slunk from the shadows to disturb their nests. But what, I cannot say.

Hornet: They make a poor target, so steeped in godlight. However, I go soon to tend my mother's shrine; I will inform you, should answers present themselves.

idk what your thoughts on jax being confirmed as transfem, but twitter is so fucking annoying about it because they take everything entirely at surface level and infantilize queer people. like they don't understand that jax's character is a cautionary tale of how internalized misogyny, repression, and self-hatred while being forced into the closet can very much fuck you up not only mentally, but also how you treat the people around you.
š§Ŗ This rant wasn't necessarily commenting on Jax being trans, but is still relevant given a pretty clear reason for her acting out is identity repression and a societal expectation to act more manly, ie. emotionally above-it-all. Especially since Jax is stated to be Goose's worst case scenario. Like it or not, Jax is an unfortunate reality with trans people.
As someone who was alive when Bob Ross (and William Alexander before him ā thatās where the approach is from) was on PBS, I can 100% testify that you can paint along with him.
You may need to learn how to set up your paints and suchā¦ but this is what people did, live, while the show aired. Thatās what the show was for. I had family members create lovely works of art they enjoyed, which I still have on my walls, because William Alexander and Bob Ross both said:

Gentrification creates a stifling homogeneity in urban areas that makes it less suited for the everyday lives of the lower class and more suited towards the leisure and tourism of those with expendable income.
An old, decrepit laundromat gets replaced by an upscale bakery? And people are mad? Itās not that the poor hate organic vegan cupcakes, itās that most of us donāt have a way to do laundry in our own home.
Run-down corner stores replaced by hand-made designer clothing boutiques? We donāt hate your eco-fabric shawl, but I canāt eat that for dinner after work like I could have a can of beans I grabbed from that corner store when I donāt have time to take the bus to the real grocery store after work.
What gentrification brings in and of itself is not typically bad, itās that gentrification brings institutions of leisure and pleasure and makes it so that the poor have to go farther out of their way for basic necessities. It turns low-income living spaces into local tourist attractions. It can even create food deserts by putting restaurants, grocery stores, etc. in that the majority of the lower class cannot afford.
Imagine if someone totally renovated your house and turned it into a mini theme park - they took away your sleeping space, where you prepare food, where you clean yourself and get ready for your day, and replaced it with things that will please people who are visiting, who have their own homes they can go back to, who are here not for their entire life but just as a distraction from their otherwise mundane existence. Itās not that you hate theme parks, itās not like youāve never been to a theme park and vow to never visit one again. Itās just that you need to live! To survive! And the leisure of those who have more than you should not invalidate your existence.
I am glad this has made the rounds. Some people feel a dense misunderstanding or misinterpretation concerning gentrification, and I think it helps to hear a description/explanation of what gentrification is from those who are both affected by it and educated by the culture from which it hails. I and many others enjoy some of the delights of gentrification while simultaneously having their livelihoods threatened by it.Ā
I always think of the description I saw years ago: Self-imposed deadlines don't help me, because I know the person who set them, and they're full of shit.

When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.
If you want solidarity with those the system hates, you cannot be the system's servant and defender.
see every time i see this status i get angry because iāve played through literally every scenario in rct1 and there is no place where this is a thing. there is never more than one park per map. and in rct2 you canāt make that happen i the scenario editor either. it is not remotely within the gameās functionality to simulate two discrete parks and these games were coded in assembly for christ sake so itās not like someone modded it in by adding the line āint const TOTAL_NUM_POSSIBLE_PARKS = 2;ā. there is no conceivable way this post is anything close to true and even though i know how writing all this out reflects upon me as a person and even though i know exactly how meaningless and trifling of a takedown attempt this is on some random facebook screencap with hundreds of thousands of notes im going to post it anyway because iām too petty to have any say in the matter
