I have been itching to talk about this song for nearly a month now. Seriously, I first hinted at it on June 16th. This was the b-side to RONDO-Revolution, and not really tied to any anime or game project … and it allowed this song to have a personality of its own. And that it does. The MA-King mix completely destroys this song’s pacing and twists the quietly, soulfully, beautifully whimpering guitar into overproduced junk.
This is probably one of Masami Okui’s most under-appreciated songs. I mean, a lot of her music goes unappreciated … but even amongst those of us who care to dig deeper than her catalogue of anime music overlook it sometimes. We really shouldn’t, this is another early indicator of the heights Makkun could reach if she were only given the freedom to think for herself. Toshiro Yabuki’s composition and production work are solid as always. They really did make a great team, and I’m glad that nowadays they still get together every now and then to make a great song.
