It’s been slow going recently, but at least it’s something.
Love is the point actually
[IDs: seven simplistic black-on-white/ transparent drawings. The first is a beehive with bees around it. The next six are various bees labeled apis dorsata, apis cerana, apis adreniformis, sphecodes, cylocopa, and anthrophora. End ID]
Free to use vector drawings. All done by me for Bees to Bayer. Credit is not necessary but I would like to know where you use them so that I can log it! Reblog if you use :)
black history month is coming to a closeeee but i have something that’ll help you draw black characters in any month! if it was helpful then hey… here’s my kofi 😏
[ID: a rough drawing in gray on black. It is a room with a door labeled ‘airlock’ in block letters. In bright text is written “Big Guy? ... Jet?” It is watermarked with @gildednapkinart. End ID]
That episode. I want to scream. I’ll hopefully actually do this later, but I needed to get this out. Feel free to yell at me about TPP, finale or not :)
Beekeeping Law Project
I’m undertaking a project to creat a series of videos explaining beekeeping laws and regulations in plain language, starting with those of California and LA county.
What this includes:
In-depth explanation of legislation
Examples of how to comply with laws
Translation of forms and laws into other languages
Compilation of necessary forms and links
Me, bugging the commissioner’s office for multilingual and online support
What I need:
Any possible input from both prospective and established beekeepers
Proof-readers and translators (English-any language)
I cannot pay up front, but any revenue from the video series will go to reimbursing translators and readers and everyone will be credited. I’m not getting payed for this.
Input from anyone versed in legal matters
If you fit any of the above qualifications or want more info, please message me here or email me at: [email protected]
Time requirements will be fairly minimal and schedules are lax.
Please reblog this post to spread it, if you appreciate the demystification of complicated legal matters
[Video Description: a person with pale skin holding a matte black fountain pen writes “apiary” in stylized cursive with black ink. There is no audio. End Description]
ah, i’m so bad at posting here. acknowledging this Day of Mourning from the lands of Kiikaapoi, Peoria, Potawatomi, Myaamia & Ochethi Sakowin people, aka Chicago, derived from a native word for garlic (mmm…) which is really suitable for me because I live here now 🌱🧄✨
whose.land are you on? talk about it over dinner this weekend with your fam & what it means to give the #landback. considering everything, listening & learning from indigenous people is the least you can do.
Hands Row 1 & 2 Row 3 Row 4 Row 5 & 6 Row 7
GOOD HAND REFERENCES THAT PROBABLY EVERY ARTIST NEEDS
BLESS YOU
Hi hi! Do you have any art advice? Especially for drawing people with darker skin? I need some pointers and it'd be greatly appreciated if you have any advice hhhhk0
uuuuhhh my biggest pointer would be LOOK AT IMAGES OF REAL PEOPLE. STUDY THEM. FIGURE OUT HOW THEIR FACES WORKS.
im not the ceo of poc and theres no single way that you should draw dark skinned ppl so yeah. a lot of my negrofication aspects regarding how i structure eyes/mouths/noses are based on real people ive met, so thats a big insp for me. there's deffos other better ppl to go to regarding this topic if u genuinely wanna learn so yeah for now my only advice is look to real life examples and find a way to translate that into ur art :)
oh also if ur gonna color dark skin, pls im BEGGING. dont make it look grey. thats one of my biggest pet peeves. ppl will just most the color slider towards black and b like look i made a poc :) bro no u didnt thats a greyass mf right there 😭
obviously this is an exaggeration but some of yall 👀👀 get too close to this when ur trying to make darker skinned characters. another thing that kinda annoys me is when ppl give dark skinned characters super pink blush. like. thats not how it works. also yes the inner parts/the palm of our hand is lighter but not EXTREMELY so
obv this is just one example and not all dark skinned poc are gonna work the same, but here you can see blush is still evident but its not... pinkity pink. blush on darker skin is usually more of a darker?? reddish?? version of the skin tone. idk im shit at explaining. also for lips the upper lip tends to b darker than the skin and the bottom lip is lighter, especially towards the center of the lower lip
dark skin alsp comes in a multitude of undertones so pay attention to that!! there can be orange-y undertones, red undertones, purple, etc!!!
thats my advice on skin im not even gonna get into hair bc there r already so many tutorials on that that do a better job of explaining than i ever could n also u could just do research urself lol
also if a poc tries to give u advice or corrects u on how u depicted a certain character of color obviously dont get all pissy, but also please dont overly apologize n make it seem like we're attacking u and ur art or smth. it just makes us feel like we gotta apologise to u n say that its ok when its rly not. just suck it up, say sorry, and fix it(and try not to make that same mistake in the future). thats my advice
looked back at my old tpp art (and hated it) so heres a new juno design
[ID: an outline of a bloody throne on a black background. The outline is a pale yellow in the same color as the text. The text is sharp-edged and kind of lopsided, reading “and he would watch as suns burned out/collapsing from their core/never to forgive, he would eternal live/his hands stained red by gore”]
Mechanisms time! This is an old one, and my text isn’t great, but I’m fairly proud anyway.
[ID: a messy black-and-white sketch of Primo Nizzuto from Trust FX. He is a man with pale skin, dark hair, and a mustache. He has a mole on his right cheek. The drawing cuts off at collarbone level. He is wearing a collared shirt and a leather jacket.]
A quick Primo to end the day! I just started Trust but I’m in love.
oh yea just throwing it out there but. if u are a beginning digital artist PLEASE i am BEGGING you to experiment with different methods of making your drawings because i see so many of yall suffering for no reason using what you’re taught because you don’t know to try a different way. like SO MANY PEOPLE people make jokes about how much worse their lineart looks from their sketch and how much of a pain it is to do lineart… if that’s you, then, don’t do lineart! just clean up your sketch a bit, or keep the bits from the sketch that you like the most and only do a separate layer for the things that really need fixing, or just paint right onto it!! endless possibilities. if u keep having trouble with layers? u don’t need them, just merge them and keep going. better at sketching traditionally than digitally? take a picture of ur sketch and draw on top of it. there is no One Right Way to do anything in art except what’s fun and satisfying for you. be free
