My great-grandfather- my dad's mother's father- the family tyrant. He was such a nightmare that my grandmother wouldn't talk about him, and by all accounts he wouldn't talk about himself either. He sometimes said he was Pennsylvania Dutch (unlikely- immigration papers say 'bohemian') and changed his last name from Kusmira to Kusmire because...???

I think of him as a kind of masked villain and try to imagine the stories about him that no one knows.

I don't know what he looked like so I drew him as 1970's Steve Earle.
