Welcome to Gimli's Glade 🌿

I'm Lark, and welcome to Gimli's Glade. The name comes from our rabbit Gimli, who fully believes the apartment and everything in it belongs to him. Alongside him we have the ever sassy Galadriel (another rabbit) and our shy little hamster Eowyn.

This blog is my little corner of the internet to share my journey as a homemaker and as someone figuring out life with two rabbits and a hamster. Every day there's always someone doing something silly, something new to learn, and somehow always a new to do list item.

The Second Resident of the Glade

Lord Gimli rules the glade but every ruler must have its court and of course the best of courts must have a jester. With great fanfare and silliness, I introduce to you the court jester, Galadriel.

As the court jester, Galadriel makes it her utmost responsibility to welcome chaos and shenanigans into the glade. Whether that be finding unique ways to empty her beloved snuffle mat, flopping over dramatically because she knows it makes the human residents check on her, rearranging her enclosure to be as messy and chaotic as possible, or burrowing deep into blankets when the glade grows cold.

Galadriel also prides herself on her advanced taste palette as she must simply try any food provided to her and believes it is unacceptable the human residents of the glade do not let her have things like pasta, rice, or electrical wires. Galadriel simply must also be informed of any discussion or action taking place within the glade and is aptly prepared by never allowing both ears to rest. Some beyond the glade rumor she may be a spy. Her prohibition from entering the fabled “kitchen”, where the crinkling of bags and opening of food portals is, greatly upsets Galadriel. When upset she will not hide her dissatisfaction and it is expressed through great thumping and an expression so sorrowful the human residents are punished by believing she is weeping.

Despite her chaos, Galadriel is a devout cuddle bug who greatly enjoys watching television with the human residents from the couch and stealing their blankets. Her goal in life remains escaping the confines of her enclosure and surrounding room to enter the kitchen and beyond, though she is given roaming time and is not truly trapped. She has also made it her mission to win the heart of Lord Gimli, though he remains unconvinced by any method attempted. For now Galadriel will accept the occasional offering of her favorite strawberries and frequent pets from the human residents to appease her appetite for both exploration and companionship.

While she seeks companionship from most residents of the glade there is one member of the court Galadriel swears to never befriend. Her introduction will be coming soon

The First Resident of the Glade

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the first resident of our little glade, Lord Gimli.

Gimli can be best described as an orbular little guy who enjoys surveying his kingdom from his upper balcony. He is very adamant the glade be kept in order and will not hide his dissatisfaction if his standards are not met. Food bowls must be filled on time, his daily variety selection of vegetables simply must contain radicchio, and his enclosure must be kept very clean. He greatly enjoys being pet while watching his human subjects video games and often grooms said subjects due to their inability to meet his hair styling requirements. Gimli is very loved but is also very reserved. Often seeking solitude and mounds of hay over companionship. He is currently at odds with the court jester but perhaps one day will enjoy her company.
