Gina Heller - District Five (Killed by Gamemaker Event)
Beau Nightingale - District Ten (Killed by Gamemaker Event)
“-hail fell and lighting flashed bak and forth.”
Gina was still in the water when it changed back, drenched but otherwise unharmed. So she concluded that the water wasn’t poisoned. It would have caused a reaction on her skin otherwise. For the circumstances she was in, she was quite lucky. Plus, the bugs really didn’t follow her into the river, which she was immensely thankful for.
When the sky started to cloud up she felt a release from the burning sun. That din’t hold on for long, though. Lighting. Shit. The girl immediately left the water, as she grew up knowing how dangerous it was to mix electricity with water. Gina had no idea where to go, hoping that she’d find shelter if she just kept on running.
A silver parachute drifts slowly to the ground. A small box is attached with a note from mentor Bran Cassidy. Inside is a half full canteen. The note reads: “Keep Calm and Game On.”
Gina smiled as she read the note, nodding as a promise. “Thank you for this. I won’t give up.” Bran wasn’t her mentor and he didn’t have to send her anything, which made her all the more thankful for his gift. She took a few bites of the food, ignoring her stomach’s pleading for her to eat more. She didn’t know how long she would have to survive of this, she had to ration it.
A silver parachute drifts slowly to the ground. A small box is attached with a note from mentor Vidia Thread. Inside is a trail mix pack. The note reads: “I'm proud of you.”
A tear rolled down her cheek as she read her aunt’s note, quickly using her hand to brush it away, putting the trail mix into her quiver, it barely fit inside but she had no idea where else to put it. She needed a backpack, but that didn’t matter now. Her aunt was proud of her, she didn’t disappoint her. Gina promised herself to continue to try and do everything she could to survive. “I’ll do everything so that it stays that way. I promise, Aunt Vidia.”
“- the land was ruined by the flies”
Gina didn’t know what to do as the insects came closer and closer towards her. So she ran. She didn’t know where to run but all she knew was that she had to get away from them, having no doubt that the gamemakers were behind this. They were into sick things like that. What would happen if the insects caught her? Would she die instantly? Would they make her suffer? She didn’t know, but she didn’t want to risk it. She saw the blood red water coming into her view as she was running. But what if that was poisoned as well?
The internal debate Gina was having with herself concluded that death by the bugs would be far more painful then by the river. Besides, one of the trainers showed her how to swim, maybe that could help her survive longer? So with that thought in mind, she jumped into the deep red water, holding her breath, waiting for the pain to start. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. She counted the seconds in her head, but the pain didn’t start. So she dived up, noticing that the bugs hadn’t followed her into the water. So she was safe from the bugs here. But for how long?

“Neither are you smart.” Pandora loathed the girl being so stubborn. Had she known what was best for her, she’d back down, straight away. And run, before Pandora could aim at her. Yet, before she could do anything, the girl from Five grabbed her wrist, tugging at it, and, as she heard a crack, soaring pain shot up Pandora’s wrist, making her pull it away from Gina with a slight yelp. “You-!”
“We’ll see about that.” Gina smirked, as she was as far from giving up as she could be. She would not die in the bloodbath. She owed it to her family to be better than that. When Pandora pulled away, Gina didn’t stop to gloat, she took the bow and the arrows and ran in the opposite direction. She got what she wanted.
pandora-goldust :
The girl’s refusal threw Pandora off at first, the girl haven’t had expected such plain disagreement with another Career. “Back off and I won’t kill you know.” She growled, only getting angrier when her attempt to hit her was a miss. Seeing the girl attempt to kick her, Pandora tried to avoid it, instead getting hit just the slightest, her leg wobbling a little bit. “You-” she tugged at the bow again, refusing to let go of it.
“I’m not a quitter.” Gina knew the career was not backing down, but neither was she. She could do this. She had to. For her parents, for her aunt and uncle and for her cousins. When the girl wobbled Gina took it as her chance. She momentarily let go of the bow and wrapped her hands around the other tribute’s wrist, breaking it like Rosaline had taught her.
pandora-goldust:
“Out of my way, Five!” Pandora nearly growled out when the redhead didn’t seem to slow down, clearly continuing on after the bow. Was Pandora not scary enough for her as it was? Her left hand’s fingers wrapped around the bow and she tugged it towards herself. “Now!” She commanded, aiming to elbow the girl to shove her back, not caring where she might hit her. Face, neck, chest, stomach, anything. Anything to push her away.
“No.” She answered her voice strong. The bow was going to be hers. Running away from this fight would make her look weak and pathetic. “The bow is mine.” Ducking so that she’d miss the other girl’s elbow, she tugged the bow over to her side, aiming to hit Pandora at the heel of her foot meanwhile.

Pandora’s hands were still bloody after ripping the boy’s from Seven- what’s his name- throat open, her heart hammering in her chest with excitement. This was it. This is where she belong, this is what she was happy at. She could vaguely see Sirus, doing his job, somewhere further away when her eyes fixed on the bow not too far away from her. Pandora preferred knives, or her own hands, but she didn’t mind using a bow whenever necessary. Without glancing around, she made a move towards it, not noticing that the redhead for Five was going after it at the same time.

Gina scanned the cornucopia for something she could use, sighing in relief when she saw a bow. Having the bow would help her a lot and she needed to get something out of there. It’d increase her chances at survival as it didn’t look like there’s anything she could use to create electricity. She advanced towards the bow carefully, alert in case someone tries to attack her or take the bow. Gina noticed the girl from 1, getting ready to defend herself if needed.

Skill presentation
Her aunt had told her about what things she would have at her disposal for the skill presentation so Gina wasn’t worried about that at all. What she was worried about though, was how they would rate her. She didn’t care what they thought, not really; but the sponsors cared and those she would need to survive. When it was her turn, she moved toward the training room confidently, a mask of indifference on her face. The redheaded girl took a deep breath and cleared her head before she stepped into the room. Assessing it with her eyes for a moment the bow immediately caught her eye. This was what she was good in. She’d start with that, get their attention and show them what else she was capable of.

“Little Miss Fiery Hair is here and she’s gonna set the stage on fire,” When the crowd gasped, Caesar laughed, “Not literally. But please, come on in, dear. District Five’s Gina Heller!” He held his hand out to welcome her to stage, facing the crowd as he spoke, “I know - that name is so very familiar, where have we heard it before.” He turned to Gina as they were seated, “Is it true you’re famous Vidia Thread’s niece?”
@gina-heller
“Only metaphorically, don’t worry.” Gina let out a small laugh, keeping a charming smile as she shook his hand. “Thank you for having me Caesar.” Manners would aid the charming persona. The smile didn’t slip from her face, enough practice ensured that-she just kept her thoughts with her family, it made it easier. “It is true. Vidia is my dad’s sister. She’s great.”
