Wyll Ravenguard

I don't know how I did it, but I did it just in time for Expo.

The friend who got me into BG3 now has her mission completed of getting Wyll art from me though I grieve her for giving him horns but I couldn'tdo that to poor Wyll.

The idea in my head was for more.. dancy than how he came out, but I still quite like it. I also originally wanted Mizora in it much like I do in my CR prints but it was far too busy with the starts etc so she got dropped, plus Wyll then gets to be his own man outside of his patron.

Making this also reminded me how big his rewrite feels when trying to track down the quotes I wanted for the border. But Wyll is a good boy all the same and I adore him for it.

Lots of spontaneous colour choices. Lots of fun. Lots of learning. Lots I'd do different if I did it all over again as always.

Honestly now that I finished my George print, his would be so fun to turn into a painting. Maybe 1 day!

Mr. Saturday

George Russell, Mr. Saturday 🐍

Does he get a cape because he's my favourite driver? Yes. Does he get the Singapore night sky because he's my favourite driver? No. It was just too dang blue with the default background so I switched it up for some much needed contrast.

I was not planning to make George before Expo but he just kind of slipped out when I shoukd very much be focusing on my Max painting.

I liked getting to add the red for Niki Lauda's star on the Mercs and honour George's insane Spa 2024 win that is not a win. Part of me wanted to put his Mexico crashout for his quote but I decided to be classy. He is the only driver to have their face not directly head on because his beauty is so inhuman that is looked off putting straight so hes got that head turn going in ever so slightly.

Jester Lavorre

It has been a MINUTE since I drew any Critical Role and I had time to get one more print in before Calgary Expo and I have said many times I would do MN once the animated series came out, so I'm holding myself to it.

Surprisingly the hardest part was the traveller? Just could get him quite looking how I pictured so I really simplified him and rolled with it.

I went with her first outfit though I ADORE the design of her second outfit from the Armory of Heroes book for keeping with the rules I set out with my original cr designs. But I did largely use the lollipop design from the book so I could at least use someone from it, and a bit more the colour palette.

Doomed Siblings

Doomed Siblings that haunt the narrative and my mind.

I always adored Baelor, long before the show, so I knew I would love him on screen, and I do. So very much, right up there with Harwin Strong.

The surprise was Maekar. I never really...got him. But by the show adding 5 words in, had him suddenly click in my mind and I love him as well.

Am I entirely happy with this piece? absolutely not. I might go back and fiddle before sending it to the printers. We shall see.

The Luck is Ours Alone

I am besotted. Bewitched. Beguiled. Truly and incandescently in love with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This is one of the most complex frames/backgrounds I've ever done. Right up there with Spider-Verse. but I saw a particular window and knew I had to do it. I should probably work on my painting but the urge to jump right into making a Baelor/Maekar one is so so so strong. I love this show. I love the characters. Adding so many details of sigils and crowns abd tents was so fun. I missed enjoying making digital art this much.

I'm excited to see it printed out and to have on my Etsy. (just maybe Calgary Expo will be smart enough to bring one or two of the actors so I can get prints signed)

Another piece that has been sitting as a pretty far along sketch for months. finally just decided to get it done no matter if I like it or not because I want to make art again (and my painting supplies haven't arrived yet)

The Picnic Dress

I rise from the dead like a ghost because for the first time in months, I actually wanted to make art. I have been opening the countless unfinished sketches on my computer, staring at them, and not feeling energy or inclination to work on them so I'd close my laptop and wallow in the shame of it all. Not depression or burn out. Just an odd empty void that was stuck inside me.

I don't know why but the past few days I was thinking a lot about this particular sketch. I've had it in my mind for almost a year, and a sketch on my computer for 8 months. It felt nice to make Star Wars art again, especially when its another Padme piece. I haven't done a Star Wars piece in so long and I missed it, and if anything could pull me from my slump, it would be the picnic dress. I wanted something delicate and soft for the scene where their romance is most innocent. the shoulder cape was ROUGH to create may I say.

Carlos Sainz Jr.

I struggled a lot trying to decide if I should do Ferrari or Williams so last minute I ended up doing both.

I admit I forgot the Renault symbol on his armour but I got the Red Bull for torro Rosso and the mclaren symbol. I doubled the Ferrari symbol as Sparkles because after that podium, there is no way I'm leaving that unicorn behind. The chili peppers are on bits of the border but I couldn't think how to add in smooth operator.

Also why has Carlos been the one I could replicate the worst. Why was his face so hard?

I used this photo for reference as I wanted his big doe eyes but I dont feel like I captured him at all but I changed it already so many times that I kinda gave up. Maybe Ill go back and tweak things before printing. Luckily these dont sell well online but sell well in person so I got a month.

Halsin

I finished him just in time for Fan Expo Canada. The first time in a while I got a print done so quickly. I ended up loving the super warm colour palette which is such a difference from Astarion and Shadowheart abd even Gale.

I love Halsin so much. I love his understanding. His non-monogamy. His hope and his despair. All of him. He communicates in ways that I really appreciate. His 'Im happy with you but you are free to be with who you want is exactly how my relationships work and seeing it played out in a game is so heartwarming. I also feel happy to make this when I've seen so many bad faith interpretations of his character lately.

No one could make me hate you Halsin. Also Dave was so lovely when he signed the piece and he got me to sign the postcard version I gifted him. It was so kind of him. His handler was saying all sorts of kind things. It was a great interaction.

Charles Lecerc

The Predestined

This is for exactly 1 small excited boy who was wearing a Max Verstappen hat at the Calgary Expo and was so excited about my Max print and pleaded that I make a Charles one for Edmonton because Max and Charles are his favourite drivers. I've never sold only of my f1 prints online but people surprisingly enjoyed them in-person. So, here is for that one small excited child.

I really don't feel content with this piece in the moment but maybe in a bit I'll feel a bit more into it once I sit on it.

Astarion got an ✨️update✨️

As soon as I started making Shadowheart, I knew I would have to remake Astarion. The original design, like original original, not even the original end design, was a very narrow window frame so I made him pose quite stiff and standing. Putting that old pose in the new design, it looked stiff, so I went for a loose and theatrical pose and I quite like it.

I absolutely just carried the head outline over because why mess with a good thing.

Gale of Waterdeep

Hello, yes. Welcome to my tedtalk about how much I adore Gale of Waterdeep. Romancing him was as natural as breathing and I wish I felt as happy about this piece as I do when I get his crown score to zero. I have been dawdling with this piece for weeks and it's just never come out in a way that matches how much I feel about him which is a shame because I love him a whole lot and wanted to do him justice, but sometimes it just kinda happens. At least I finished him. that's a win in my book after the struggles I've had. I avoided said struggles by just playing Baldur's Gate 3 more which was also quite unhelpful but oh well!

Wait. Hold up. Update. I printed him out on shitty printer paper to put next to shitty printer paper Shadowheart and I think i like him more now.

He does look nice as a contrast to Shadowheart so I'm excited to get the whole crew done and see them as a set. Though I should set aside bg3 for a bit as I have a couple of other prints I want to work on as well
