Just me, the ivy, and the spiders
Does anyone else remember when conspiracy theorists (who were still by and large racist) loved to talk about the "Illuminati" as the unseen force of elites keeping the rest of the world poor and uneducated for their benefit? How the specifics of their theories were always wrong, but we live in a world where we are shown that constantly proves true. That the billionaires are building a panopticon of false information with Gen AI to make the truth inscrutable? And all the people who you'd think would jump on this are instead deeply in the mire of using GenAI to transvestigate D and F list public figures and write them their forum messages to better hide their racism? None of which is working for them against anyone still using their brain, but it's too late for them? Almost like... it was always too late for them, as they were always focused on the wrong things even when presented with nuggets of truth.Like the need to prattle on about the way of the world without attempting to do anything about it was always a way to excuse or explain their own shortcomings (and racism)? And now, even putting these thoughts together, makes the rest of us sound like the conspiracy theorists we used to dismiss?

Dionysus and Elagabalus; gouache and paint marker on scrap paper. I'd like to do a big un of this. Kalmakov's original is a scrap painting as well, so I like the lineage. His depicts Dionysus and a very transy lookin Maenad so obviously, you know,
hello Lucian I was wondering if you might be up for sharing the kalmakov image you were inspired by? I have not been able to find it and I'd love to see them side by side 👯♂️
i'm mad this took multiple re-spellings of both the artist's name and the paintings to find bc i dont remember it being that assy about it when i first saw this, but pic is a link to Hermitage

A pair of pins featuring the staring eyes of Dionysos, my second Pride 2023 offering.
Dionysos, the many-natured god associated with mystery, ecstasy, madness, and contagion, has been. To worship Dionysos is to be penetrated by him – by drinking of his wine, or even through the staring eyes of his icons and idols. These are those eyes: entrancing, bewitching, possessing.
I know that I’m several years behind on the collar-pin trend, but these Bacchic eyes are worth bringing it back.
It is worth noting that the eyes of Dionysos closely resemble the eyes of Classical Gorgoneions, and the eyes painted on the prows of ships, both intended to ward off evil.
Available either as loose pins, as pins with a chain strung between them, or – on special request – as a festoon necklace to hang around your neck.
