Blood everywhere. Dripping all over the walls, splattered across the furniture, a freshly killed body at her feet. And none of this had been Deanna's doing. Normally, she would have never bothered with a ruguru in the neighborhood but she had received a call from an old acquaintance asking for assistance. His neighbor was behaving oddly, he had said. The wife was complaining about sudden aggression, verbal and physical, and he wanted to help get out of her husband's suddenly clawed clutches. So away from Sioux Falls Deanna had gone, close to Watertown than her new home, but it was better to handle things outside of your jurisdiction if you wanted to avoid getting seen by your friendly neighborhood hunters. And bosses.
"Mr. Jameson, you have made quite a mess for yourself," She murmured, squatting down to peer at the warm corpse. Not his wife, of course, but the maid. Middle-aged, auburn hair, shocked gray eyes. And most of her meaty torso eaten. She had gotten there just a couple of hours too late and now the man was probably half-way through his transformation. Deanna pursed her rouged lips together before sighing and standing up again, licking her hand clean of the blood they'd picked up. She was so glad she'd decided to wear black. Reaching into her pocket, the werewolf pulled out her phone and called her friend.
"Daniel, it's Deanna. He had already killed and eaten someone, there is no hope for your friend." A particular chuck of muscle clung to her boot as she picked it off easily as she walked away from the body, chewing on it casually as she looked around to make sure she hadn't left anything. The redhead wasn't worried about fingerprints but a wallet or even as strand of hair would be problematic. "No, it is not avoidable, dear. He has eaten his maid. How's the wife?" The answer made her frown and tut, and she couldn't have been gladder to exit the home. "I suggest you put her up in my motel so he doesn't think you are a threat to his child. What do you mean, how did I know? Danny, please, rugurus mature when they've fathered a child, it's how they know they can chance getting caught since there will be one of them to pass along the gene." She left the front door open as it had been, quickly making her way across the front yard to her friend's house, clicking on him as she knocked on the door. Daniel, sweet, old Daniel, gave her one of the dirtiest looks he could muster as he answered the door.
"She doesn't want this baby, Deanna."
"Well I am sorry but whether she wants the baby or not is irrelevant." The redhead glanced inside, motioning for the wife - an adorable little blonde, go figure - to follow her. "Most supernatural creatures to not take kindly to getting tossed aside. If she tries to get rid of it, he might just come right back along and re-inseminate her forcefully so she is better off having him and hoping he becomes a priest. Come, sweetheart, we need to keep you away from men for now." Alicia gave Deanna a teary doleful look but obliged, thankfully, and Deanna gave the seventy-five year old man a parting kiss and hug. "Do invite me up another time for something other than work, yes?"
"Of course. We'll dance to Sinatra like old times."
"Wonderful." Another kiss for her old friend and then she carted Alicia Jameson into her car. The werewolf didn't particularly like the situation, especially having to go against one of her own. Ruguru were more shapeshifter than wolf, more like her Alpha's siblings than their own species, but they were still shifters and that meant something to her. Loners or not, wolves were typically loyal to their own if they were brought into it properly. Alicia was a wreck beside her though and trying to get her out of her car and into the motel room was proving difficult.
"Alicia, please. We must get you inside. You're with child."
"No! I don't want it! Get this-this monster out of me! Please!" The begging was loud and tearful, heartrending any other time if Deanna wasn't aggravated already with having lost the husband. The werewolf resisted the urge to smack the woman and continued to try to coax her inside, hoping to keep it low since they were not parked directly in front of Deanna's room and the room they were in front of had its lights on. "He's going to eat me alive, isn't he?!"
