The imaginary Italian music salon by Rossi-Rosedeni on @DeviantArt
Here is my recent commission, a digital illustration called āan imaginary Italian music salonā. The patron is painted to be surrounded by their favorite Italian baroque composers in the patronās required composition.
From left to the right:
-Antonio Vivaldi (on violin)
-Tomaso Albinoni (on violin)
-Domenico Scarlatti(in blue-grey coat)
-Pulcinella(the cat which was said to be Scarlattiās cat and inspired him to compose his Cat Fugue)
-Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (in green)
-Alessandro Stradella (in pink)
-the person who commissioned this work (in green and blue)
-Giacomo Facco(in red)
On the wall:
-Leonardo Leo
-Leonardo Vinci
this keeps popping up in my youtube recommendations and Iām not sure how I feel about it
It pops up in my youtube recommendations today tooĀ

Happy birthday, Tomaso @tomasoalbinoni-official

amazing vivaldi
That is... truely stunning...Ā
Whose l'Olimpiade do you prefer?Ā Pergolesi's or Vivaldi's?
The reason why Vivaldi is throwing oranges onto Pergolesi's face in this picture is that Pergolesi got oranges thrown on his face by angry audience at the premiere of his l'Olipiade in 1735.
Guess whose birthday is today?
Happy birthday Antonio Vivaldi!

Vivaldi mediating on his fate in Vienna, postmortem
- Graphite on paper, commission work, August 2019 - The architecture in the background is St. Charles Church. Vivaldi was buried a few meters from the church at the cemetery "God's Acre". Today the cemetery no longer exists due to the construction of Vienna University of Technology. - He is holding a current-day concert program of St. Charles Church in this drawing. "I didn't expect that I would stay in Vienna permanently."
Dria Paola in Pergolesi, 1932. Direced by Guido Brignone, itās a biographical film about XVIII century composer Giovan Battista Pergolesi. Ā Gino Carlo Sensani worked on this film Ā for the first time as costume designer. Sensani was the first Italian pofessional film costume designer.
Telemann, a botany enthusiast in the spare time by Rossi-Rosedeni on @DeviantArt
(This was a commission so it has watermarks.)
Besides his music career, G. Ph. Telemann was also enthusiastic about gardening, especially exotic plants. He mentioned his love for tulips in his correspondence. His lifelong friend, Handel, was into gardening at the time too and he sent Telemann exotic plants from London (the exotic plants he sent were tomato plants). That's why in this drawing, Telemann is standing by the window, surrounded by tomato plants and tulips; he is looking outside as if he is looking forward to some news from his old friend.
Graphite on paper, A5
Recently I found out there are flowers named after Handel and Telemann.
So here is RosaĀ āHandelā, a very tall climbing rose that can grow up to 3 m.
And here is Peony Telemann, a species that was specially bred to commemorate his 250th death anniversary in 2017. It also gives pinkish flowers as Handel does, but the plant is much shorter, only as tall as an adult.
Ā So I think the lesson here is that if you are really into gardening and flowers, you will become flowers one dayĀ
Now Handel could mailĀ āRosa Handelā to Telemann from London
Now you might wonder where other baroque composers are, such as Vivaldi. Well, he does not become flowers: he becomes potatoes. Here is the potato variety calledĀ āVivaldiā:
Sorry, Antonio...
The other day I found this cute and hilarious German incense smoker resembling J.S. Bach sold in Bach museum at Leipzig.
So basically you put a little piece of incense in his belly, light it up, and the smoke will come out of his mouth, as if he is smoking (Bach was quite a smoker, actually; his expense of tobacco could be found today and he mentioned his smoking habits on his autographs).
But then I saw this photo, I feel personally attacked by way too many Bach and I decided that I should probably stop procrastinating and do some work

The spirit of Vivaldi at the deathbed of Bach
Today is July 28th.
Both Vivaldi and Bach passed away on July 28th, nine years apart. Bach knew Vivaldi's music and arranged various Vivaldi concertos. One of the famous examples is Bach's concerto for four harpsichords was after Vivaldi's concerto for four violins. Bach even adapted the theme of Vivaldi's Spring into his cantata BWV 27. Death on the same day might be a coincidence. However, I personally feel like it is a beautiful coincidence. That's why I painted this little piece.
