The perception of Acheron Sisters by the characters in Acotar and the fandom/readers really shows that unless someone acts like your idea of a victim people will have no sympathy for them
I fucking hate using tumblr you’ll have a solid 2 days of getting posts you actually want to see and then a week of just random fucking posts from fandoms you don’t give a shit about and no amount of filtering tags fixes it because then tumblr will just keep giving you more posts you don’t care about until your dashboard breaks
Oh my god I am still not over how the acotar series just absolutely fumbled Tamlin and Feyre’s relationship. We went from Ethel Cain level “This was all for you” to now he’s just a generic toxic macho dude now I guess?? Are you kidding me?? I’m sorry but that is so boring. Worse, there was a great setup. Both of them survive Amarantha, and instead of exploring how that kind of shared trauma warps love into something painful and unrecognizable we get, “he’s controlling now.” That’s it?? That’s the arc??
Show me them trying to be together and they can’t breathe around each other because everything reminds them of what happened. Or where Feyre looks at him and remembers the boy who sent her away to save her life and the man who couldn’t save her under the mountain. Or where Tamlin sees her and is just haunted by the fact that she died for him and he didn’t do anything to stop it. That’s angst and tragedy. And for Feyre instead of just the repetitive “I was treated so badly” internal monologues or the “I would’ve fallen in love with the first person to show me kindness” (I freaking HATE that line so much you don’t understand) imagine if we actually got her grieving that relationship.
Because she loved him beyond words. She died for him. Amarantha’s last taunt was literally “Say you don’t love him” and Feyre wouldn’t say it because her love was that real, she couldn’t even lie about her feelings. If only we could have read Feyre coming to the terrifying realization that the love that was strong enough to break a 50 year curse curse isn’t strong enough to put them back together after it. All that grief and anger, but with her trying to keep telling herself that they were real, and they mattered, so why aren’t they enough anymore?
And you’re telling me that same love just evaporates into a lesson about red flags?? We got the most surface-level “toxic man vs strong heroine” rewrite imaginable. I feel like everything I think about those novels comes to the same conclusion. Absolute. Wasted. Potential.
I find the way SJM approaches mates in Acotar so interesting. In most books when they explain the mating bond it’s explained as a love match, the powers that be have put these two (or more) people together because they will be each others perfect other half. In acotar however mates are put together based on biology meaning that the powers that be look at everyone and decides which two people would produce the strongest offspring.
It really shows in the few mated relationships we’re told about like Rhysands parents they were not compatible relationship wise they tried but they were terrible together but they did make strong offspring. It adds something interesting especially with the whole will they won’t they situation going on with Elain and Lucien.
WHICH LEADS ME TO
Elain and Azriel endgame idgaf. I believe in the call her daddy podcast SJM talked about wanting to explore free will. What better way to do that then Elain rejecting the bond with Lucien and choosing Azriel of her own free will. Especially when Azriel believes he has never been chosen he pined for Mor for 500 years his own family didn’t want him it would be so romantic for her to choose him.
Everyone asking what the overarching story for Acotar series is when it was made pretty clear after that chapter where they discuss what to do with the weapons nesta made that it’s gonna end with Rhysand and Feyre becoming high Queen and king of the fae
This is actually something I guessed while reading the first book because I found it strange that they didn’t have a king and queen because what if something were to happen although at the time I assumed it would probably be Feyre and Tamlin or Lucien (I was maybe like 100 pages in and really opposed to Tamlin)
Also I guessed it because I read a lot of fantasy books and manhwas normally if the main characters are nobility the author will end the series with them being the king and queen or the emperors
Had just finished watching the newest episode of the Pitt when I started reading heir of fire and Lorcan was introduced so in my mind he looks like Patrick Ball (Langdon) and there’s nothing anyone can do to convince me otherwise
My main problem when it comes to finding more fantasy books to read is that I don’t care for spicy scenes at all and everyone only wants to recommend the spiciest dark romance books
Also what was up with that bite in the first book Tamlin bites Feyre and suddenly she starts having feelings for him I would love if that came back
My theory is that when he bit her it cause a chemical shift in her brain that made her feel romantic feelings for him or maybe she just has a kink who knows
Putting aside everything Feyre and Rhysand have zero chemistry they had an amazing first meeting and then negative chemistry after that and this applies to every couple the fucking high lord and his mate from winter had more chemistry together than our main couples and they had like 4 sentences written about them
which is so strange cause SJM can write good chemistry like every couple in ToG was so good and felt so right
People get so anti Rhysand that they start becoming pro Tamlin they’re both bad that’s what I like about these books everyone is incredibly morally grey which is way more interesting than one side being purely good and the other side evil there’s alot of nuance to these characters
SJM leaving Fenrys single at the end so he can find his true soulmate (me)
Why are Elriels acting like we don‘t have access to his own pov? He himself confirmed that he doesn‘t think far beyond Sex with Elain.
Mind you, they never explained this. You could remove Gwyn’s Part of the chapter, his thoughts about Elain won’t change.
EXACTLY THIS
I used to ship them but I can’t support it if it’s just lust on his end this goes for any character if I’m reading a book and we get to the guys point of view after the girls pov has been nothing but her talking about the things she likes about him and his is just purely sexual thoughts I get so annoyed I can’t continue reading it’s not romantic it’s gross
What I’m about to type isn’t even crazy cause I’m sure everyone else also thinks Dorian and Chaol should be together they were in love
How can you be a LADS fan and think Azriel's yearning and attraction for Elain are gross?? Girl.
Yearning and we get his pov and it’s literally just his horny thoughts about her how he jerks off to her and how he feels entitled to her. Also he literal never mentions anything about what he likes about her besides physical features and not even in a oh she looks pretty but literally just to reinforce his own perverted thoughts about her. The LADS men could NEVER they would be appalled.
I thought this was common knowledge but I guess it isn’t the reason Eris leaves Mor when they dump her body in the autumn court instead of bringing her back with him or getting her medical help is because he knows she doesn’t want to live with him or be apart of the autumn court he even asks her if she wants him to help or if she wants to live in his court she says no so he leaves her the moment he touches her he’s claiming her as autumn court property making it nearly impossible for her to go back to the night court especially because Rhysands dad was still high lord at this time and they had no idea when Rhysand would ascend to the throne Rhys would do anything to get Mor back but his father most likely would not
On the theory that Kaltain is Bryaxis there could be an argument that they share the same powers but the events of tog and acotar happen at the exact same time bryaxis has existed for hundreds of years it’s not possible for Kaltain to have died and reincarnated as bryaxis because bryaxis was already alive
I feel this works for any reincarnation theories save if the character people claim is a reincarnation of another character was born after the original character died
