sorry i haven’t been writing, i have been really anxious about it and not liking a lot of what i write; in better news, here’s these pinterest boards i made for my cod characters.

I noticed that some people never got taught how to make a stencil in art classes, so I thought I would make a quick little how to:

What you need:

X-acto/craft knife or scissors

Cutting mat/Cutting surface

Sturdy paper

Dark marker

Tape

Optional but useful- straight edges, extra craft blades.

How to:

1. Take your paper and trace out your design or words with the dark marker. Keep in mind you have to cut out the “dark” parts of your final design. Card stock works really good for this.

2. Take your paper, tape it down to your cutting surface, and use the freshest x/acto knife you have. If you’re using scissors, you don’t have to do this.

3. Begin cutting out your design. Remember for “floating” areas of shadow, like the middle part of the letter “o”, you’ll need to keep an arm of paper between the intact and cut away parts. If you are using scissors, gently cut along the outline, and make sure to exit your cut along the opening you used to start. Tape over the entrance cut.

4. Double check your design against a contrasting background. You can hold it against your wall, a table, another piece of paper, just look at your design as though you were about to use it.

And that’s it. It’s pretty easy. The hardest part is middle areas of circular letters and having a sharp craft knife.
