Hey everyone! I'm Rain, I'm an artist, I don't have anything I'm known for to put here yet, but I enjoy all sorts of surreal, weird, fantastical, and silly art. In particular, I've been working on my own fictional setting/TTRPG for several years now and most of the original artwork you will find on this blog is from there! Mayhaps I will go more into it at a later date. Also! I do commissions! I'm obsessed with character design and have a lot of strengths in areas that I don't see often, in particular, I am obsessed with historically-inspired armor, and I love drawing mecha and robots and other overly detailed stuff. The reason most indie novels are written like the author is terrified of doing something wrong is because the overwhelming majority of indie novelists get their start by networking in the violent panopticon of the social media indie publishing community, which favours the people who are able to win at the social policing game.

I had heard of the whole messed up situation with this story, but I hadn't ever read the synopsis of the story before, and WOW

This story sounds like it could have been a brilliant exploration of gender and warfare and violence but instead it was attacked by people who didn't know how to confront a story that made them uncomfortable, and the author faced horrible consequences.

It's so important to be able to deal with stories that give you uncomfortable feelings in other ways than just attacking it. Being shown new perspectives sometimes has feelings of discomfort because it's an unfamiliar way of seeing the world.

Teaghan from Wife Shaped Bodies, a really good lesbian horror book about half mushroom women. It's so good everyone should read it NOW.

Everyone who likes books about Very Normal Women should read The Safekeep (Yael van der Wouden) right now. It's sooooo unbelievably good it's set in the Netherlands, 1961, follows a very repressed, ocd-coded, lonely Isabel who takes care of the family home alone (save for the maid she hires to help) and has basically nothing to look forward to in her life. She doesn't even own the house, it'll go to her older playboy brother if he ever actually marries. She's never even kissed anybody, she's such a grumpy wet cat, and then said older brother ends up leaving his newest girlfriend at the house with Isabel for a month and gay shenanigans ensue. I've never seen a woman eat a pear so homoerotically.
