Victorian era chatelaine accessories and tools

A chatelaine would have hung from a lady’s waist and was intended to be both decorative and practical.

The small tools and accessories that might be incorporated included a watch, scissors, tweezers, magnifying glass, scent flask and miniature notebook or ivory writing tablet.

Ben Shillingford for Alfred Dunhill Aquarium Lucite Bracelet c.1950s

Expertly crafted in crystal-clear lucite, this remarkable open cuff bracelet contains a hand-painted miniature underwater world populated with vibrant tropical fish, aquatic plants, coral formations, and colorful pebbles. The scene is executed with the extraordinary attention to detail for which Shillingford became famous, creating a captivating three-dimensional effect that appears to come alive as the bracelet moves.

The rich ruby red, amber, gold, and green tones glow beautifully within the transparent lucite, while the delicate painting and layering demonstrate the artist's exceptional skill in miniature reverse-painted aquarium art.

The inside diameter is 7 cm / 2.75inches, and the width is 2.7 cm / 1 inch.

"Airo" Dress,

The 15,000 iridescent glass bubbles that make up the dress were first hand-moulded and then attached to the bodice with UV light.

The creation required 2,550 hours of work over a period of 15 weeks by a team of specialists in couture, science and computational design.

Fresh bubbles also emerged from under the dress. These were powered by microprocessors hidden beneath the skirt, which pressurise the gas and release the bubbles silently.

This system is the work of A.A. Murakami, the duo of Alexander Groves and Azusa Murakami, who work between London and Japan with ephemeral materials like steam and light. For the first time, they have applied their knowledge to a wearable garment.

Heidi Klum, 2026 Met Gala,

Created in collaboration with prosthetic artist Mike Marino. Using latex, foam, and carefully sculpted materials, the look replicated the stillness and delicate detail of carved stone.

Inspired by Veiled Vestal by Raffaelle Monti, the design explored the illusion of fabric frozen in marble—blurring the boundary between fashion and classical sculpture.

Every fold and contour was precisely crafted to balance strength and softness, turning the body into a moving work of art rather than simply dressing it.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell wore a similar pair of super elevated platform shoes during the 1993 runway. During the walk, the exaggerated height made them almost impossible to balance in, and she famously lost her footing and fell on the catwalk. The shoes themselves became legendary, symbolising both the daring creativity of Vivienne Westwood and the risks models sometimes take to bring avant-garde fashion to life.

Felt The Futur !

Shoes have become throwaway products. Millions end up in world landfills annually due to complex material blends that prevent recycling.

This project reimagines circular footwear through a radical monomaterial approach, using only wool: fully compostable, without synthetic materials, adhesives, or chemicals. This CNC-milled clog demonstrate how traditional shoemaking and digital fabrication create durable, elegant shoes that return completely to nature.
