I just landed my first job so I m finally able to pay for a gish registration :D however I don’t know how “doable” Gish is with a full time job?

[gish-is-coming]

It’s definitely doable!

If you’re unsure about how much you’re able to get done, you may want to join a just-for-fun team this year to see how it goes, but it’s definitely possible to play even if you have other time commitments, whether it be a job, taking care of children, or any other prior commitments. 

If you want to play competitively or are really worried about it, you may want to see about taking a day or two off during that week, or possibly work a few half days if your job allows. 

But even if you’re unable or unwilling to take the time off, you can still get a lot done-- I myself have never had a gish week where I’ve been off work 100%, including two years as a runner up and one as the winning team!

I usually end up not sleeping much during the hunt to give me more time to work on items, but that’s up to you. If there is a small, portable item like a cross stitch or crochet project, I usually bring that with me and work on it during my lunch break. 

You can talk to your coworkers in the time leading up to the hunt to see if they may be interested in helping out your team (or even joining it- I’ve had that happen many times in the past!) And sometimes you can even use the resources at your job to help with items, though you’ll want to check with HR/management to see if there are restrictions on pictures being taken in your work area (for example, when I worked for an amusement park, no pictures ‘behind the scenes’ in areas not accessible to the public were allowed). You’ll also want to explain Gish and receive consent from any coworkers who may want to help by appearing in any of your items, as your items would have the potential to be shared in things like the coffee table book or the online Gish Hall of Fame.

Name Change and Site Updates!

We’re a year late, but Gishwhes-is-coming is now Gish-is-coming!

i keep seeing people on facebook and now twitter posting about getting a letter from gish, but i haven't yet. is everyone supposed to get one?

The letter people are getting in the mail right now is an exclusive– it’s being sent to everyone who signed up during the super early bird registration period, August 15-20, 2018.

But don’t worry! There’s still a way to check and see if that was when you signed up!

To find out if you were an early bird registrant and therefore should have a letter coming to you, simply log on to your account through the Gish website (not the app) and look at your gishpoints under ‘my account’. Everyone who registered then also recieved 1,000 gishpoints, which are visible under 2019 in your points total.  If you have those points under 2019, that means you should have a letter on the way!
