You know what bothers me? Sebastian putting on clothes.
No, not for that reason. (Well okay, maybe a little for that reason). But mostly because it feels inconsistent.
In Sebastian’s flashback to his first moments with Ciel, we see him step out of the shadows after taking a “form appropriate for a servant to an earl.” We can only assume that meant magically creating his clothing.
I’m fine with Sebastian being able to create matter. What bothers me is what happens when he gets back to the manor and starts a daily routine that involves putting on clothes.
How many suits does he have?! Is it just the one he created? That would make the most sense, because it would be hard to order suits that precisely match the one he spawned . But if he only has the one, why are there scenes of him getting dressed? He doesn’t sleep, so what was he wearing before?
Or if he has many suits, does he also still keep the one he spawned? Does he survey his closet and think, “No, not the Woolshire wool tailcoat today. I’ll go with the one created from my own infernal essence.” Does he feel uncomfortable when he has to wear clothes he did not create from raw energy?
Of course, I’m making mountains out of molehills. You could explain away the inconsistency. Maybe when Sebastian reconstructed the manor after the fire, he created his own room with a closet already full of butler suits. At least then all his suits would be magic.
I guess it bothers me more because I don’t prefer to think of Sebastian’s clothes as generated matter, but rather as much a piece of his meat-puppet disguise as his face or hair. His clothes ought to be part of himself, permanently attached.
So when I see him put his tailcoat around Ciel all I can do is have a fangirl moment and think is “OMG he’s wrapped up in part of Sebastian’s body!!!”
I’ve been thinking about this again since Sebastian formed a table and chairs and Ciel sat on them.
I have a few translation questions about chapter 138. There is one part when Ciel thinks Sebastian's manner of speech is annoying. So what kind of manner is he referring to exactly? Also, Sebastian says something about putting Ciel inside of his body to keep him from contacting the outside world. Did Sebastian really say that and that's him just being a weirdo? Thanks, Ducky!

There’s not much to explain since Sebastian explained it himself: if he really had to “protect” OC from any kind of threat, then he would also have to protect him from “invisible” threats such as viruses, bacteria, allergens, etc, and to protect OC from them, it’s best/easiest to lock him up in a “sterile” environment! xD

Is it just me, or is there a fracture in the back of the stone of the Phantomhive ring?
I’m not sure how that would be relevant to the story now, but it’s worth making a note of it now in case it becomes relevant later.
Hmm… Maybe this is the reason why the ring broke so easy when Lizzy threw it (apart from her amazing strength). I wonder if this fracture is still there after Sebastian repaired the ring.
No, Lizzy actually time traveled back to when Vincent was alive and broke his ring.

Could Lucifer be the statue shown in the last page of chapter 135?
(Not a perfect replica due to different pose, but the overall look is similar enough.)
It’s fitting as he’s a demon who used to be an angel before he was banished to Hell. Our!Ciel was once a nice, sweet kid born in a rich, loving family until he was kidnapped and reduced into a plaything in a cult. The twins’ lives basically fell from Heaven to Hell in an instant.
After our!Ciel condemned God, it was as if the Devil himself smiled and sent a demon to lure him further into the darkness…
I love Yana’s symbolism.
Yes, it is logical that the statue must represent Lucifer.
I think that this real statue was used as a reference, but I haven’t found its name or where it is located. It doesn’t matter, most probably.
Searching the image I found the same one with tags like ‘female angel’, ‘cemetery statue’, ‘guardian angel’, but I too was unable to confirm anything about its location with any certainty. So while it’s doubtful the original statue was meant to be Lucifer, it’s definitely logical to think that a cult which intends to summon the devil would also venerate his likeness.
I was really hoping the statue’s origin would hold some significance to the story, but seems it is just a random photo Yana used for inspiration. In any case, @glacierspirit it’s pretty cool that you were able to find it!
