Okay so ik in my last dnd post i said my next character would be another warlock but A LOT has happened after that post that i couldn't find the time to draw her. HOWEVER, recently I have been OBSESSED with "Hell's Comin' with Me" so much so that it inspired me to make a DND character based on the song itself, but with my own lil twist 💯✨️🎵 OH, and she is the first character Ive made to have their own custom background😉 so any future character that has a custom background it will be marked with ✨CB✨
Delilah Pierce (Dead Eye Delilah)
Human
Fighter, Gunslinger
CB: Fallen Deputy
Chaotic Good
Delilah is from a large (wild west/western-themed) town called Vastglen Ridge past Black Bones Valley. Legends say that the outlaws and criminals killed in that valley haunt it; some say they still hear their ghosts crying out, and if you stay in that valley too long, you'll become one of those ghosts as well.
Delilah was the deputy of Vastglen Ridge's sheriff, Jedediah Rook (a humanoid rattlesnake, similar to the one in Rango). The two were very close, taking out wanted criminals and outlaws. While Jedediah had the quickest draw in the west, Deliiah was the best shooter in the west. Her shot is so good, she can shoot a lone kyote with her eyes closed. The townsfolk loved Delilah, especially the children. She would often get asked to give a target practice demonstration at the schoolhouse; the kids giving the deputy different things to shoot at. To Delilah, doing this for the kids topped bringing in and taking down any criminal or outlaw by a mile.
In Vastglen Ridge, there is a preacher who people call Father Oliver; doesn't necessarily like Delilah all that much (yes, he is THAT flavor of "holier than thou" preacher, very homophobic). Delilah has similar feelings towards to Father Oliver, but there's someting more to it. He's what she likes to call a "black magic preacher." Delilah often catches the priest practicing magic that is most certainly not what he teaches at the Sunday school. For years, Delilah wanted to confront him on it, or even bring it up to the mayor of the town, but Father Oliver and the mayor are too close that the mayor would believe anything the priest says, so she's kept her mouth shut.
One day, while Delilah was working on some case files, she dragged out of her office by Jedediah and brought to the middle of town where the townsfolk looked at her with utter disgust and distain. The children were hiding behind their parents with tears in their eyes with some crying out, "She's innocent!" "Deedee would never do something like that!" Allegedly, Delilah had brutally attacked a person passing through their town, robbed him, and before she let him go, she shot a bullet in each leg; practically ensuring a slow and painful death. When Delilah had tried to plead her case, Father Oliver walked out of the sheriff's office with the money she stole from the man and the gun she shot him with. It was a revolver, and there were two bullets missing from the chamber. Delilah tired to plead her case again, but no one believed her. Some of the townsfolk wanted her to be hung, while others wanted her to to be shot dead with the same revolver; "poetic justice" is what some would say. Instead, Father Oliver said, "Since she left the man a cripple, that will be her punishment. Let's see how far she makes it without her best features." After having her deputy badge and title stripped away, the priest took a dagger and sliced it across Delilah's eyes, blinding her. As she screamed out in pain and cried tears of blood, some of the townsfolk laughed at her misfortune, all while saying variations of, "You're not welcome here anymore." While hearing these words, Delilah wiped the blood from her face, came to her knees, "looked" at the townsfolk, people she once called friends, and said, "I'll be back when you least expect it... and hell's coming with me."
Several weeks after Delilah was cast out of Vastglen Ridge, she knew for a fact that she was framed, and it had to have been by Father Oliver, but she didn't have any proof. While out in the desert, growing tired, she heard a man's voice call out to her. Delilah couldn't see him at all, but once the man saw she was blind, he did not hesitate to help her to the nearest town and give her shelter. The man asked for her name, and when she gave it, he was in awe. He knew Delilah's name for being the best sharpshooter in the west and wondered why she ended up stranded in the desert. Delilah told the man her story and the grusome ending that came with it.
With a smile, the man offers Delilah a "second chance" of sorts. He told her he could restore her sight to get revenge on the man who framed her and the people who turned their backs on her. However, in exchange, all he requires is their souls. Delilah knew the area surrounding Black Bones Valley was notorious for having people who knew "black magic," but like Father Oliver, they were very secretive about it. Instead, Delilah proposed a counter-offer, "I don't want my sight back. I could still shoot shit with em' closed; this ain't no different. Heighten my other senses and in exchange, I'll be your Grim Reaper." The man took the deal with a sinister smile. With a firm handshake, Delilah could feel her other senses growing stronger. Sounds around her became louder, smells became stronger. The man then gave Delilah two things: the first was a new gun, a rifle-like shotgun that was attuned to her disability. The second was a necklace with a golden hand-bell attached to it. "Ring this whenever you're sending souls my way... or need some souls to aid you."
Decades later (Delilah is in her 40s now), Delilah has gone town to town taking out corrupt sheriffs, wealthy citizens who prey on the innocent and less fortunate, and just about anyone who profits from injustice. Her moral compass still holds strong as she fights to protect children, travelers, the falsely accused, and ordinary townsfolk undet the oppression of a corrupt leader. Delilah was already famous for being the best sharpshooter in the west, but for the past couple years, everyone calls her Dead Eye Delilah. One day, she decided to disguise herself as a drifter, and took a stroll back to Vastglen Ridge. No one seemed to recognize her but before she left the town, she gave them a warning, a promise, saying, "I'll be coming back."
Over the years, people would say, "anyone who crosses Dead Eye Delilah's path that isn't a good person end up DED." Because of this, people in power see her as a threat, and put a bounty on her head; wanted dead or alive. Many have tried and failed to kill her. The only time Delilah feels she can finally rest is getting her revenge on Father Oliver and expose him for who he really is.
I really really really love this character so freaking much! To simplify her backstory a lil bit to understand her abilities better, imagine Daredevil but if he was a sharpshooter. That's what Dead Eye Delilah is. I should hopefully be coming out with some new art and fics soon (got a summer job so my schedule is if-y) but stay tuned!
