Rocky and Grace cannot touch, we know this.

We also know they desperately want to be able to touch.

Before arriving at Erid, Grace would wrap himself around Rocky's ball and do his best to imagine he was hold Rocky himself. That there was no xenonite between them. That it was just them, and nothing else. He would gently touch the scar of Rocky's clawprint, and imagine being able to touch the claw itself. A handshake, a high-five, just holding eachother...he wanted to have that.

Rocky, unable to physically interact with Grace beyond the xenonite ball, would use his transmitter camera and point it at Grace. His texture tablet would change, would shift, and there Grace would be, in his little tablet...close enough to touch. It would never be the same as actually holding Grace, feeling the shape of his leaky space blob face. But its...its close enough.

And when they got to Erid? After Grace heals, and Rocky makes that new xenonite suit? Yeah, you can't peel them off eachother. Ever.
