Please before anyone gets out their pitchforks and torches, just bear with me while I explain this statement and more importantly why labeling Chihiro trans is actually quite transphobic and as some would say problematic.
Now it is explained in game that the reason that Chihiro began to dress up as and pretend to be a girl was because he was weak and was constantly getting comments likeĀ āyouāre weak, even though youāre a boyā. Naturally this wore on Chihiro like it would most anyone exposed to such statements constantly since being small and weak goes against the acceptable gender roles for men in society. Itās not against the female gender role to be physically weak and Iād imagine that goes especially for places like Japan where traditional gender roles are still upheld for both genders, unlike much of the Western world.Ā
So in other words, itās established that this is what caused Chihiro to pretend to be a girl - his shame at himself for being weak especially for being a boy.
With that out of the way, Iām just going to come straight out and say it - by claiming that Chihiro is a trans woman, you are invalidating transexuality and basically saying that trans women are only trans because they view themselves as weak men and are so ashamed of that theyāre willing to turn themselves into women. Itās the exact same logic TERFs use against trans men by claiming trans men are all just women who have a terrible case of internalized misogyny as well as the same logic Iāve heard from ignorant people who donāt know any better who claim trans people are just gay people who are so ashamed of being gay that they want sex change operations to make themselves straight.
Now Iām not trying to dictate or police what people do, what they think, and what they headcanon, however as a trans person trying to enjoy this fandom itās quite difficult when this belief is so widespread and enough so that some people even are influenced to behave in a certain way as to avoid aĀ āgender warā. So even though I might get a lot of hate for this, I just thought Iād try to explain this so maybe - just maybe - people will think of the implications more in the future. By all means though, donāt stop what youāre doing if you donāt want to of course, however just please keep this in mind, just in case.

I want to make it clear Iām not just speaking to underage/teen girls. Any younger girl, and this can happen to not that young women as well.
