I swear the vagueposting game on this site has gotten so good that at the core of every discourse there are two perfectly solid arguments but no-one, not even the holders of those opinions, can find them because they're so utterly lost in the armies of strawmen they're desperately battling.

i see this phrase mentioned a lot. typically whenever someone points out an issue, like lack of representation or subtle bigotry in fanfiction. and it is interesting to see the lengths diehard archiveofourown fans will go to prove that they don't want to see any inclusivity in their media. even fan made media or fan spaces, regardless of how inclusive the source material is. say you wish people would consider trans characters or disabled characters or characters of color more and you get a dozen different variations of "no one wants to see you, and we definitely don't want to participate in helping you feel seen, so go fuck off and make some other space that will accept you" in return.
