Hi! I stumbled upon your posts about Rush's MBTI type (I'm not touching Socionics for now) and I think that he's INTJ tbh. The cognitive functions are exactly the same as INFP but the order is different and Rush is most definately an introvert, a thinker, a Rational and most pointedly a Ni dom user. He's not driven by personal morality as an Fi dom would (and he's not a feeler) but mostly from his vision, the purpose. He's definatelly an intuitive and his focus is singular (no Ne)
Hi! I’m flattered by your message, thank you!
I will try to explain it the way I can (as it’s quite hard for me to explain things, generally, and I’m obviously not a native English speaker):
The types are the same in both fields (MBTI and Socionics) as we are speaking about the realities (the types themselves) whose actual existence can be easily proven. The way MBTI attempts to describe them is rather questionable, actually, since the field itself is still not elaborated well enough, and a number of significant issues is simply left out of account there.
When we actually determine a person’s type, we use at least five different methods of approach (definite as well), we look from each of them, and only then, when we get an overall picture, we can actually be sure we did it right.
The order of four essential functions, which is also the same in both fields, is as follows:
For INTJs – dominant Ni, auxiliary Te, tertiary Fi, inferior Se.For INFPs – dominant Fi, auxiliary Ne, tertiary Si, inferior Te.
To clarify at least some aspects,
INTJs act differently, have different purposes, and what is most important, they think and react in an utterly different way.
INTJs defend themselves by Se and have Se as their picture of the world (inferior function). Rush doesn’t have essential Se at all. Rush defends himself by Te, Te is certainly Rush’s picture of the world and he doesn’t use it in any other way.
INTJs do not manipulate their feelings and moods the way Rush does, they don’t influence the moods and feelings of other people the way Rush does, they don’t show them the way Rush does, and what is more important, they do not “tune in” to people the way Rush does, – for example, being actually exasperated and then immediately changing his voice, intonations, pose and showing a soothing “image” of himself. Rush does it the exact way feeling types do these things. For INTJs, Fi is that very point of their personality, which they defend the same way Rush defends his Si.
INTJs speak differently. They do produce logic. Rush doesn’t produce logic (have you ever seen how actual logical types do that ?), Rush produces possibilities (auxiliary Ne). He doesn’t make actual Ni prognoses. Auxiliary Ne works the way it works in Rush’s case; dominant/auxiliary Ni works differently.
Rush’s outlook regarding people is an outlook of an INFP, not of an INTJ.
Flying to some unknown galaxies, without any logically ordered, elaborated plan [proclaiming the need to find a key to immortality, find a way to control fate and right the wrongs, and get the greater understanding as a result] is a purpose of a type with a dominant feeling and an auxiliary intuition (determined by the exact way their tertiary sensing, inferior thinking, dominant feeling and auxiliary intuition work).
Rush is a typical dominant feeler with an auxiliary extraverted intuition. Who is typically focused on his ideas and beliefs regarding his vision of the greater good. It would be strange for Rush to not be driven by his purpose and vision, and to not be passionate in this regard, actually, as it’s his auxiliary function, and it’s the exact way it works in the case of his type. Feeling and thinking are both rational functions, and Rush is, in fact, a very good and an actually realistic example of a reasonable dominant feeler.
I can go on, if you like, as we can discuss Rush’s every single trait and it will be the trait of an INFP (and not of an INTJ or an INTP). If we speak of how it works in the real life, of course… =)
Anyway, it’s not an attempt to make you accept anything you might not agree with, since it’s an attempt to clarify the issues. I hope I managed to make it comprehensible.
And anyway, thank you very much for this discussion! =))
