danicedes is great because it'd make everyone lose their mind:

santana has probably tried to seduce mercedes 455 times (mercedes was the only glee member she truly valued and openly saw as an equal when it came to singing) and it would drive her insane to see that she's experimenting with her sexuality with her ex of all people...

sam would act like that's awesome and he's happy for them but he'd be absolutely crushed by the fact that mercedes is into a blond with a guitar that's Not Him

we don't know much about dani but she comes across as someone that's comfortable in her sexuality and would rather date women that are also like that....being the gay awakening of mercedes jones of all people could make her freak out <3

kurt would see this as an opportunity to lure mercedes into his gay band no one seems to gaf about (she'd say no). he wants his bestie back!

i do get kurt’s perspective of it being a big deal that he finally has friend that can relate to/understand what he’s going through and how it can get easy to focus on that before anything…

but kurt buddy. you cancelled existing plans with a friend because your new friend asked you to hang out. you promised to make it up to her on friday night and then did the exact same thing again. mercedes doesn’t just “feel left out” you like. actually quite literally did leave her out, multiple times.

and the ep seems to overall agree with his stance that she, like, just needs to get a boyfriend of her own (even tho he and blaine aren’t even dating yet lmao) and she’s inappropriately jealous (and dealing with this via the really ridiculous and honestly fatphobic tot plot but whatever). but like?? can we not have sympathy for kurt AND also understand that he’s kinda being not a great friend to her in this moment? and that she has a right to feel upset about that??

also like - even blaine, when the three of them finally hang out Together, seems to know it’s a little weird for her and tries to be nice and bring her into the conversation? he asks her what she thinks of what they’re talking about and then says they should talk about stuff she’s interested in too… only for kurt to IMMEDIATELY follow it up with another thing that is much more geared toward his interests lmao.

and like, usual qualifier: he’s not evil for this! it’s like that when you’re 16 sometimes! my bigger gripe is that the show doesn’t even seem to think kurt owes her an apology by the end of this plot when he like, does? lmao

the thing is furt isn't even that controversial as a ship........i love to think that if it were to happen they would both be like omg this is so wrong we are BROTHERS 🙄 but everyone else would be like actually ☝️ you can really see it differently if you want and that was a pretty recent development anyway so um you can stop saying that!! but they still would because finn is afraid of burt and kurt enjoys pretending it's forbidden because he has a brother complex

i guess my ultimate take on will is that in season 1 i can tell what they’re trying to do and it’s not perfectly executed but i do appreciate the whole earnestly-imperfect-but-trying guy who genuinely wants to do right by the kids even when he misses the mark and i think his sympathetic qualities just fall off as time goes on and the show gets more and more ridiculous. but even then i can enjoy him kinda in the same way i enjoy sue. he doesn’t realize he’s terrible like she does but that can be fun too.
