OK guy here me out! What if Frigga knows that she would die in Thor tdw? As we know she was raised by witches. She has perhaps the ability to see into the future. So this was frigga told Thor in endgame. :
,, No, son, you don't. You're here to repair your future - not mine"
And we got that scene
She of course knows that loki loves books. But why she asked the maids, at the same day she is going to die, to bring loki some books about astronomy? OK.. Yeah maybe he likes them but what if she knew that she will die today and Odin will never approve that she will visit loki as a real person. Frigga knows that Odin said to loki he will never see her again.
So she gave him the astronomy books as a matter of comfort. When she dies her body will turn I to stars like all gods do. That he should look to the stars if he want to find her. She will always be with him. Even Odin says he will never see her again.
Remember she was the smartest person in asgard, except loki.
