For the first time, World War 1 gives women the chance to show what they are worth in a male dominated society. They make charity concerts and events to raise funds for the government as well as raising the moral of the country. Working as nurses, spies, munition factory workers, selling war bonds between many others. The lack of employment made evident that women had to fill in the loss. By 1917 68% of women had changed jobs since the war began, 16% had moved out of domestic service, 22% that were unemployed in 1914 now had work and 23% had changed factories. Many women in the time of the War felt compelled to do more than serve behind men as nurses or aids, some even enlisted and fought the war. Proving that a woman can do as much as a man can. The war played a very significant part in developing women’s political rights.
