The Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is the world’s third-largest mosque, built to commemorate the former king’s 60th birthday. The mosque (and its 210m minaret, which is said to be the world’s highest) rises above the ocean on an outcrop northwest of the medina, a vast building that holds 25,000 worshippers and a further 80,000 in the squares around it.

So this is my first set of photographs from Marrakech. I took photos for 90 minutes and then went to the riad to check in. Now here I am. The link above is for all the photos in color. Marrakech is really colorful and since this blog is strictly black and white I had to take that turn. I hope you will check it out.

What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.

The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.

What makes photography a strange invention is that its primary raw materials are light and time.
