It was Vallapooza this weekend at Va Hallas in Oak Park. I had the pleasure of seeing almost all ukulele Beatles cover band. They were pretty amazing. I really enjoyed them but especially love the red flying V Uke one lady was playing. Metal!!!

Hoop Dreams As this is the last post of the year I dug one more time into the archives.

This has been a long time coming. I remember my grandmother having the games on when I was little. That’s what plays in my head. The sounds of a day game back then were like nothing else. I remember taking my daughter to her first game. Watching her excitement during that last game was the best thing ever. Always the little kid. Always the Cubs fan.

In honor of the big win and major sigh of relief. Here is a memory from when WCR sang with Drew Barrymore at a Cubs game back in 2009. Can’t even believe it’s been that long. The good thing was the WCR ladies can sing really well.

This night was like any other night. We all gathered at some bar to see some amazing band. They people donned their best 0ldest clothes. The floor was burning up with the steps from American history and the smiles were like stars in the skies.

I can’t remember which of these images she emailed me about. All I know is she loved it. As an artist type that’s really all you ever hope for. Someone saying they love something you did. especially when that person is your peer in the arts. An equal in the love of what we do. That is the sweet spot.

I think it was the feet image but I honestly can’t remember. It doesn’t matter. They both are shown as the truest version of themselves in that moment. A couple who really loved each other and have for more than half their lives.

It’s honest and it’s loving. One can only hope to want to find their forever dance partner. The song hits the needle that hits the speaker that fills your soul. Then you just simply grab that hand and dance with no mind to anything else then the person who’s hand it is.

For these we are lucky.

All on a block that wasn’t quite a dead end, but if you went down a half block the houses ended and a field began. At the end of that field, it became industrial. So in a way it was just its own little urban island. It was very communal in that people shared dinners, drinks and whatever you had to make…
