Every so often I get bursts of interests in these, my one contribution to fandom, so here they are in one go!

Relationship recaps are visual relationship charts for dramas crossed with episode recaps, so they don’t spoil anything that happens in the future. Super handy in particular for those long sprawling cdramas where 100 characters are introduced in the first 3 episodes. Do read the fine print!

Heated Rivalry Ep 1 - Timeline

After all the years of cdrama/jdrama/kdramas … it is so damn nice to be into media that’s got mainstream popularity in your own language. I continue to be well fed even after the finale with all of the fanfics, gifs, and commentary.

The Ministry of Time

I picked up this book knowing almost nothing about it, and was charmed by the delightfully witty Graham Gore.

Pro tip, do not look up his daguerreotype, it cannot match whatever your imagination has come up with.

The link in the original post unfortunately leads to a deleted account, so I googled the artist Yosuke Amemiya. And you guys. Those apples are WOOD. That isn’t digital art or some malleable medium like clay or putty. Wood. I’m almost angry at how good they look. Absolute witchcraft.

Tried Fourth Wing bc of the hype.

Why is every popular fantasy book in first person? I do not want to imagine myself as an 18-year-old please thanks.

Looking like I’m going to drop Blossom at ~ep 24, and going back to Love Game in Eastern Fantasy instead (had paused around ep 3 or 4).

I don’t usually drop this late but the chemistry’s just not there for me. It’s just after their marriage. Should I stick it out?

Readers, should I read Babel and Yellowface?

People seem to really like those books. I’m hesitant because I didn’t enjoy the first Poppy Wars book, but I hope these are very different in theme and reader audience?

(What I liked about Poppy Wars: fantasy premise, character base, and arc. What I didn’t like: anti-Japanese/nationalist, extremely nauseating just for the Rape of Nanking scene, and obvious motivations bc it was written for YA market.)

Blossom ep 20ish or so: they are a very cute couple, and the male lead is doing a good job of looking charmed around his new bride. It’s sweet, and saying this right now, I’m enjoying the whole show very much.

But … I wish just a bit that she was more emotive? She mostly just looks cute and the chemistry is all coming from him. Also, she’s been married AND pregnant before! Why is the script having her be so maidenly and clueless!

Ok and one more thing — all these male idol leads in every drama I’ve seen over the last 5-10? years are way too skinny to be believable as hardened athletic military martial arts dudes when their shirts come off. His fight scenes are so good, why ruin the impression?

The 3 girls growing up together flew by so fast that their identities confused me for a good long while.

They also did a fantastic job of choosing child actors with similar facial features.

Blossom ep 7ish or so: I do find the nice scholarly fellow in Blossom MUCH more appealing than the one in Kunning Palace. Why is that? Is it that he has more of a personality and isn't such a stick in the mud?
