2015 was a hard year. My mother died, I moved house, and a lot of other small bits and pieces that added up to stress happened too. Writing has been on the back burner. But I have finally been beginning to have some stability again, and writing is coming back now there is space for it.
It’s perhaps a little unoriginal to want to write another twine game based on atmosphere and sensation considering that I focused on those things quite a lot in the little ghost by the sea, but I think there needs to be space to write what is fun to write, even if it’s similar to something I’ve written before. Perhaps especially in the wake of such a tumultuous time in my life.
I am about 1/3 done with this next game, where you can explore a city at night time. It is based on my many beautiful experiences during my years of untreated insomnia. It’s not so much a story as a snapshot of time, a collection of experiences. It is very much about the journey, not the destination.
